Bigger picture, discard history and buy in the sponsors insipid love song, with zero reference to football. Or yer a neanderthal!
Unless you're Eds agent, this isn't a real world problem.
Smaller picture needed.
Looks like Elephantintheroom has got a different login today ;-)
I never said disregard history.
Not Ed's agent, not even a fan, not even on my annual Spotify report...sheesh.
I bet the exact same as what you've just stated was being said by Liverpool fans when they started adopting it, now it's woven into the fabric of the club and almost admired worldwide, wasn't anything to do with the club or football.
Was adpoted as it was re-realeased and sung by ....you guessed it...a local lad.
We're happy to sing songs by other artists and mash up words to make it fit.
To be straight, EEJB is ace, but it's near on f****g impossible to get it going across the ground as it's too hard to pick up in other stands.
Who is he? Did his best to ruin the start of the Liverpool game with his completely unnecessary drivel. Slightly less noticeable on Saturday but he was embracing and high fiving his colleague as soon as he’d finished his bit. He detracts from the atmosphere rather than adding to it. Take the mic off of him or tell him to read the teams out and leave it at that.
He used to do this kind of thing at Cambridge United before he came here but is actually a Towen fan I’ve been told.
I'm still not sure why that is the song we play before kick off.
It is has nothing to do with Ipswich, it is played at so many grounds in the country so there is no uniqueness to it. Away fans sing it equally as loud.
It should be EEJB imo, something that only Ipswich has.
At what point does this not resonate with Ipswich, the obvious Ed link, but the passion people have for their club is pretty significant for some. Not saying to the level of a woman, but hey...some might lol!
Even first two verses would hold for nearly a minute giving the crowd time to join in.
It's a massive opportunity in my eyes. Blue Action need to take it on, there'll be some sceptics for sure, but it'll 100% engage a younger audience within the ground and if you want an atmosphere, doesn't always have to be 'traditional' .....some traditions have to start somewhere.
I found a love, for me [the club] Darling, just dive right in and follow my lead Well, I found a girl[team], beautiful and sweet Oh, I never knew you were the someone[something] waiting for me
'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love [for most of us I'd assume] Not knowing what it was [it's pretty odd when you think about it] I will not give you up this time [up or down] But darling, just kiss me slow [this is the weird bit lol!] Your heart is all I own And in your eyes, you're holding mine
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark [park?] With you between my arms [arms out na na na na na na naah 'Ipswich' style]
Barefoot on the grass Listening to our favourite song [this one ...or EEJB] When you said you looked a mess [hey, the club was a mess] I whispered underneath my breath But you heard it Darling, you look perfect tonight [and doesn't it all look perfect right now?]
I completely agree and said before I'm not really a fan of Ed's music but it doesn't matter. It has the Ipswich link, it's very easy to sing and like things like "you'll never walk alone" it's a song you might never consider singing in normal context but it would take on another form with 27,000 singing it every week.
Needs to happen.
My mind was changed/made up on this when the players sang it in the changing room. That bond the players had in that video was everything you need to know.
