After Missy’s booking he was doing the job of two men. I thought he was excellent.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Had a tough challenge on Saturday against a very strong player in Belaba, and that task became even harder when Morsy got booked so early! Much like the game against Fulham, he grew into the match as it progressed, and our overall performance improved alongside him. It almost seems like he gains more confidence as the game goes on. Hopefully, he can start showing that same assurance from the beginning and stamp his authority on the game early.

I also noticed some really nice link-up play with Davis and Clarke when he came on. I’m feeling very positive about this (ex-Leeds) connection on the left-hand side.

Very good, grew into the game and looks to be getting fitter by the game which is no surprise given he's not played loads recently. He's such a presence in midfield and unsurprisingly a huge step up on Mass or Taylor. Likes to have the ball at his feet, looks after it well in tight areas, dogged in the tackle too. Needs to start week in, week out simple as that and I think he will now.

Are you suggesting they'll have won the league for us by Christmas?

I watched a Brighton pod yesterday and they thought Phillips was absolutely awful which seemed a weird take. He does seem to be growing into games and consistency was always going to take a little time.

Yep, his first 90 Minutes since May 2024 so once he's fully up to speed it will be a huge benefit going forward.

I call it a skuse performance.

One where he did the job required of him that you didn't notice him. It's a brilliant job and he did it well.

So much better than Skuse. He passes forwards.

Cascarino in the Times this morning was complimentary about KP and Town in general

Very good. Against Fulham and again on Saturday his influence grew as the game went on. If he can replicate his second half performance in those two games across 90 minutes he’ll be back in the England squad before long.

He’s a great signing, I’d say the most important one made in the summer because as much as I love Luongo and can see that Taylor has quality, neither are in his class. Even with him we’re struggling to win and retain possession in midfield.

Poll: Most enjoyable calendar year as an Ipswich supporter

Then they clearly don't know what they are talking about. He played very well and broke up numerous dangerous Brighton attacks.

I really don't disagree but thought it was worth injecting the opposition view of him.

Troy Deaney on Beleba (who was good). "He was running over £50m Kalvin Phillips like he wasn't there."!!

Baleba was head and shoulders above everyone else in the middle for me, plus the rest of his body once he'd finished running through whomever was in front of him, such that I understand why Brighton fans were unimpressed by Phillips, given his wages and pedigree. I thought he was our best player in front of the defence though and increasingly held his own after a tough first half for everyone.
