I had a pony on loan when I was a late teen, worked out well, but these days it might be a good idea to get a written agreement? especially if you go for a shared loan.
Illy’s right though - as my equine vet friend recently put it “horses are a money-pit”.

Yeah I’m learning this myself… riding lessons, pony camps… fortunately my oldest has a respect for what things cost, so explaining she can only do it a couple of times a month hasn’t been an issue.
Beautiful animals, and a really lovely way of life (hanging about yards, caring for animals, fresh air) but I definitely feel an outsider standing there amongst some seriously wealthy people 😂

It's maybe not quite what you're all looking for but this offers an opportunity to work with horses.
Basically Wickham Market, so probably 4 or 5 miles further than Woodbridge, but a beautifully quiet and relaxing location. It appears to be a relatively low-key/small scale set up, but I might be wrong.
They have a lovely little cafe there (the Camargue Cafe) which I've used as a meeting point for a small group of cyclists that I ride with, and the people running the cafe are very welcoming.

Good luck with it all.
That’s where the kids go for their lessons! It’s a lovely set up. Enquired into ‘loaning’ a horse that they have there, only £450 a month 👀 So we needed to pass on that option
They did a pony camp there in the summer, and of the 30 girls they were the only 2 from Suffolk! The rest travelled from as far as Germany to attend. Certainly a highly thought of stables.

And that cafe is lovely 😃
Sounds like that loan comes with full livery. If you went down the loan/share route, you could look for somewhere that allows DIY livery, ie they provide the facilities like paddocks, stabling etc, but you/kids do the work - turning out, bringing in (if needed), feeding, grooming etc. Plus maybe optional add-ons like hay, supplementary feed etc. supplied by them instead of taking your own in.

Yeah that’s the full works, with a lovely indoor stable to ride in.
We found one in melton, £10 a day, where you poo pick, feed, ride etc. issue being to ride it is down a small bridal way, with no lighting. The field/stable also had no lighting. Now in the summer that’s not an issue, but taking a 12/10 year old to carry out these horse duties with only a head torch really didn’t appeal to me.
The latest Private Eye has an article showing that a former nurse who, along with her husband, won a £1.8 billion Covid contract has, in addition to buying a £30 million villa in Barbados, a superyacht and a £6 million pound mansion, bought a large equestrian centre in Bedfordshire.
She subsequently caused controversy by closing it down to eventing. Among the comments on social media aimed at her detractors is the following.
"What a bunch of green eyed wasters. How sad your lives must be. Sad old women with a dream and no direction. You should try working harder then you could have your own competition centre."
