Damn, Premier League got OWNED (as the kids say) 14:57 - Oct 7 with 2406 viewsChris_ITFC

"The Tribunal also ruled that there was an unreasonable delay in the Premier League’s fair market value assessment of two of the Club’s sponsorship transactions, and so the Premier League breached its own rules."

P.S. For all the marketing, youth development, scouting, analysis, etc, we really need to lawyer up if we're going to succeed in the modern Premier League.

What has happened to football?!

Will the APT rule change with regards to share holder loans have any effect on us, considering the changes to the board in the summer?

No this case is entirely separate from the 115 charges thing.

however, what it will have done is make the PL even more p1ssed off - and they'll actually be gunning for them properly now - which is amusing.

This case is not directly related to the Premier League disciplinary commission which will hear 115 charges against City for allegedly breaching its financial regulations, some of which date back to 2009.

Yes, but we are not alone (and in my quick interpretation of it, clubs like have just been given a haircut of 3-10% (or whatever the PL determine to be a commercial interest rate) from their PSR headroom calculations).

I think it is a stunning argument personally and surprised it has won - Man City have argued that there is (or rather should be) parity in rules between sponsorship revenue and owner loans/investment. Given their defence against 115 hinges on the separation of Man City from the Abu Dhabi companies that are sponsoring/bankrolling them, it seems an odd line to take (but I imagine it's more that they are just trying to find as many holes in the PL legal documentation as possible.

APT wasn't in place for the 115, so it's largely irrelevant.

Other than the public shaming of the PL, which City will be enjoying.

Not significant wins are they, just need to rewrite the rules.

Well, significant in the sense that it pulls the PL’s pants down and sticks two fingers up at the tyrannical majority within the 20 clubs - which I think was largely the thinly-veiled purpose of all this.

Plus cost them all another small fortune too.

Interestingly, the actual judgement is somewhat less partial to the City side as they claim. Couple of pieces here:
