I'm meeting an old forces mate and his dad before the Everton game. They are both Everton fans with strong Scouse accents. The dad is 80 so not likely to be looking for trouble. If any 80 year old away supporter is getting grief off Town fans I would be very surprised, especially pre match.
I'd recommend the Brewers Arms on Orford Street though. The locals are friendly and its not uncommon to see away fans in there so there might be some other Toffees. They'll also have Spurs v West Ham on the screen for a bit of background entertainment. Decent inside & outside area and a 10 - 15 minute walk to PR once you're finished supping. |  | | |

Briarbank. Seems to be a good spot for inconspicuous away fans too, as there's been a handful on most matchdays. Plenty of seating in the tap bar upstairs if you get there at opening time. | | | |

Steamboat has lots of seating inside and out and is usually not too crowded.

For a lovely quiet drink slightly away from Ipswich, I can recommend The Red-Lipped Batfish Public House, at Swilland. The proprietor is a lovely guy who used to play Jeffrey Fourmile in George & Mildred. | |

As fans go I think generally speaking we are a friendly bunch.
I remember being in The Swan with some Leeds fans,they were ok.But then I was in Mannings I can’t remember which club they were from,but they started playing up and the landlady asked them to either shut up or leave. |  |

Yes I agree that Town fans are a friendly bunch. I was more concerned about door staff not wanting away fans in the pub. I know some places are home fans only. | |
