I see Eddie Howe wasn't interviewed for the England job. 11:00 - Oct 18 with 3120 views | homer_123 | Rightly so, IMHO. Nothing against him but as I posted the other day - he's not a winner. He's the Tottenham of football managers - his teams do play good football but he has won nothing of note.

Might all have been about the money (compensation). You'd have liked the FA to at least have the courtesy to pick up the phone & offer a quick explan of why not this time though.

Especially Sky sports, when he was with "plucky little" Bournemouth... If we were going to appoint an English manager then Graham Potter would have been my choice.. saying that, he's not won anything either!

I see Eddie Howe wasn't interviewed for the England job. on 11:17 - Oct 18 by homer_123 | The point is simple really. Yes, not denying Howe is a decent coach but there are way better ones around. If you want to 'win' things, who do you choose? The manager/ coach who has won nothing or the one that has won the Champions League, French and German league titles, Club Cup etc. Putting aside nationality, what do we want for England, to win, right? Under Southgate, we should have won one if not two titles, we didn't - we fell short. For me Tuchel is a logical and sensible appointment if the FA are moving away from the pathway approach. If you want to win things you bring in the name that can create that winning mentality and get a trophy nearly anywhere. Not a decent coach that has done pretty well and might join a top 4 club. But a man who has worked under Bobby Robson and knows some of the English menality. If you want someone who can get England a tournament win, get Josè Mourinho [Post edited 18 Oct 2024 20:36]

Considering how many people on here have said they don’t give a toss about England, and aren’t fussed about watching or supporting them, I’m amazed at the furore on here over the FA’s choice of new manager!

More to the point - would a German gravy train rider who has hitched a few rides at money-doping clubs be able to cope with the murky small pool of English players.
