I think it was introduced for the 72/73 season and strangely coincided with the emergence of Robson’s first really good side. If I’m out, it’s only by a year so are right. 70s, not 60s.
The club badge on 17:53 - Oct 28 with 2088 views | _clive_baker_ | I've sometimes wondered what might've become of Ipswich had Wolsey's vision of a college akin to that of Oxford been finished. Given the history of the town, its proximity to London, the Suffolk countryside, coastline etc, I dare say it could now have been regarded as one of the most decorated cities in the UK. Full of employment and prosperity, probably loads of tourism and international interest nowadays, with a seat of learning rivalling any in the world. Having said that, were it the case I dare say my family might not have called it their home or had the financial means to do so. And if that was the case then I'd likely have zero affinity to football club in any case, just as I don't for Oxford or Cambridge. Perhaps even the clubs fortunes might've been very different too, as it appealed as a place for academia over more traditional working class pursuits like footie.

Yes. Our small-minded rivals on either side, WHUFC and NCFC, can be directly held to blame for this, in the form of Anne Boleyn and the Duke of Norfolk. Never be us.

The Duke of Norfolk wasn’t a nice man, from what I’ve read about him. Framingham Castle was home to Mary Tudor of course. Perhaps Ed Sheeran should have titled his tune ‘’Bloody Mary on the Hill’.

Don't know if I just heard this years ago, and if it was true, but was Ipswich offered the expansion he the UEA got in the 60's? The Sainsbury building etc, but IBC turned it down?

Broadly speaking yes, though it's probably not as clear cut as it sounds, or feels 60 years later.
