Not a very clever meme though is it, given I doubt Arabic is a common language among most of the UK immigrant population.

I think that's the sentiment of many London cabbies. I recently got a taxi from Waterloo to Liverpool Street. On our way there the cabbie told me "we would normally drive down that road" But Khan had closed it. Apparently it was to do with emissions. The madness of it was the cabbie had to drive further to get where we wanted to go. How's that preventing less emissions ?

The thinking is that by shutting roads, you discourage traffic that would have been using it.

(this isn't to back that theory or reject it, but its happening all over London)

It's also a really old meme that, surprise surprise, is complete nonsense.

So the cabbie was moaning about the fact that he now earns more because of a detour?

Its just ignorant xenophobic nonsense. Which too many idiots will actually take as a foundation for thinking there is some truth in it.
