Delap buy back clause a mere £20 million? 00:52 - Nov 24 with 7669 viewsBlue_In_Boston

According to the gossip page on the BBC sports app...

Manchester City could scupper Chelsea's plans to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, 21, as they have a £20m buy-back clause on a player they only sold in the summer. (Express)

Don't think Brighton would want broady or Al hamadi.

Huge pinch of salt unless and until we have seen the contract. The Express is a rag, and signing up to such a clause would make no sense whatsoever from Town's perspective. Or at least, signing up to a clause of a kind that the Express implies exists. It's all pretty ambiguous anyway.

These rags all feed off each other. I wouldn’t use the Daily Express on a toilet roll holder (print comes off) let alone believe the contents.

Best to ignore the nonsense. The reality will emerge at seasons end.

Why does everyone assume the player would be happy to go. He's getting Premier League minutes here. Is he going to oust Haaland? No.

I guess Delap had to give consent for this when he signed for us originally.

I’d be a bit annoyed if it were me though, meaning I could be moved from one club to another without any input at all.

Let's apply some common sense here. If the deal was as is being speculated there, whereby City can just press the button at any point and buy him back for the same amount we paid, then we haven't bought him, we've loaned him for a maximum of five years in which time we're paying 100% of his wages, with a £20m deposit and the permanent threat of losing him. This wasn't wrapped up when we'd backed out of the Broja deal and were trying to get something urgent done. It seems remarkably unlikely we'd have swallowed terms like that.

If he needs any steer on why going to a club like Man City might not work out like the Shangri-La it appears, I imagine a certain Mr. Phillips could have a chat with him.
