Away ballot 19:38 - Nov 28 with 1119 viewsNeedhamChris

Does anyone have any idea if applying in a group works as;

A - you're all entered individually and then if one of you is selected, that's the group with a ticket

B - you're all grouped into 1 entry before the ballot takes place

If you enter with multiple people in the same transaction you either all get a ticket or you don’t.

If you all enter separately then one of you could get a ticket but the others not.

Fair enough, I've been applying individually and I'm 0 for 10 so just a bit frustrated with it.

For it to be fair, it must be that you are entered as one entry but if you are selected you get 4 tickets. Once the selections go down to 3 or fewer tickets left you would not be included. This would mean a slightly higher chance of getting a single ticket than one as part of a group.

If each member of a group had 1 entry on behalf of the whole group, the larger the group the greater the chance of getting tickets and it would be inherently very unfair (although especially large groups would drop out of selection chances a bit earlier if none of them had come up).

I haven't seen any evidence that entering as a group increases the chance of success. I have been entering as a group of three, home and away, and have been successful 1 in 18 times. And that success was annoyingly for the Crystal Palace home game, which I didn't realise was midweek so can't make it from Nottingham with the kids.

I've been plugging away because we've 'got to be in it to win it' obvs, but genuinely I'll be amazed if we do. Odds must be pitifully small, 60 tickets lol and that's with the bigger gates! We receive the same transaction ID for our 2-person entry.

I think it would help if we got a mail saying unsuccessful, instead of just leaving us hanging. It can't be a difficult bit of coding to generate an e-mail to all customers who entered the ballot but weren't successful.
I think the whole ballot thing is flawed, it either needs a rework or scraping. If 15 groups of 4 get picked that is it done or it could be 60 individuals. Also in theory the same people could get lucky more than once in a season while others miss out.
Not sure it makes sense. I would scrap it and just put the 60 on sale to everyone in the 5 and above category, fastest finger first.

What would be fair, is once you have been successful in the ballot, you cannot re-apply until all those in the future ballots have at least got tickets to a game.

Isn't the away ballot for about 60 tickets usually?

If say 2000 apply each game, you've got a 3% chance...........!
