Looks like someone who won a competition to be a footballer for a day.

What kind of finish was that!?

There was a moment towards the end where he glided across the face of the box, but just couldn’t find that opening to shoot, but that’s how a confident Clarke can go past people with ease.

There was also a moment where Delap just refused to pass to him when he was wide open, which is sadly probably an indication of where the team’s confidence is in Clarke too.

Poll: So, how many league wins did you see in person?

He shows glimpses that are hugely encouraging but he won't win votes just yet because he just looks too lightweight and ineffectual.

I hope he comes good. At his best, he has tricky feet and could be very useful winning fouls for set plays.

He just needs a bit of time imo. I’d have loved to have had half his talent (I could pick a pass, but was never a ball carrier/dribbler).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I noticed him being starved of the ball too. There were a couple of times Jack was wide on the left hugging the touchline on his own in that perfect position he thrived on last season and he was ignored in preference to a ball forward into a crowd. Morsey the biggest culprit.

Frustrating ...

Think he'll come good..... but when, not sure.

Didn't hear one bad comment about him from Sunderland fans and they pretty much said we got him cheap. Prepared to be a bit patient with him, but I wouldn't be against Broady getting a sniff ahead of him.

That's what I was thinking, the rest of the team seem reluctant to give him the ball as he just loses it pretty much everytime or gives it back to the opposition who then attack us when we are pressing high up the pitch and puts in danger.

Not sure where we go with him especially if he is been trained for a new role which is not his game obviously.

Maybe loan him to York City in January (Sorry Jack).

Yeah I think he'll come good too as there's definitely a player in there. Needs more time with the coaching staff, and more minutes from the bench but I wouldn't be starting him unless KM wanted an overload switched to the left.

The potential is there and he does have quality but he’s way too lightweight at the moment and massively lacking in confidence.
But I do think he could eventually have an impact at this level.
Unfortunately I’m not sure I can say the same about Harry Clarke or Wes Burns. Both deserve enormous credit for getting us into the Prem but neither seems capable or possesses the quality to live at this level.
In a way it’s quite painful and sad to watch and I hope they prove me wrong.
But Burns doesn’t look willing or capable of beating a man and while Harry is full-on committed, his bull-in-a-china shop approach is an accident waiting to happen in the Prem.
Losing Tuanzebe is a huge blow. It’s no coincidence our first blip in the season coincided with his absence.

He's lacking confidence for sure at the moment.

My concern when we bought him was the last time he tried the Prem, Spurs let him go because he wasn't physically strong and the defensive side of his game was not good enough. That's actually why they sent him out on loan to improve those areas.

He's also now learning that in the championship you can try the occasional crazy dribble past 5 players lose the ball and get away with it, but in the Prem a lost ball is suddenly in the Town penalty area with a potential goal for the opposition. All adding to his lack of confidence

I feel he can come good but those chances he has missed, especially the Everton one, have impacted him.

Jack Clarke is not a premier player.

Out of all the players signed he seems to be only one that has gone if you like backwards under KM. You can't get them right all the time...

Even if he played as a straight forward left winger I am not sure he would beat a defender many times at this level.

At Sunderland I think they just passed it to him and let him run, the KM system is much more thoughtful than that and there is the issue trying to get him to find a role in those tactics.

…we still say the same. He cost us a precious 2pts last Sunday.
