Must say that does surprise me.

But it also got me wondering.. is there perhaps a side he's comparing us to in prem seasons past and we are on a similar path in regards to points/competitiveness and he can confidently feel we will end up in a similar league position come May.

I was wondering about this.
A third of the season gone and we’re on 9. I guess McK is thinking that the final third of the season is when we will start to put a couple of wins together. 35 points is more or less the benchmark so if we continue as we are we need 3 wins above par? Doable.

I'd expect us to pick up more points in the second half of the season than the first. If we don't lose ground on the rest of the bottom six between now and January I think we'll be well placed personally.

I think it's more about the context of how other teams have performed than the actual total of nine points.

We're two points from 15th having played Liverpool, City, Man U, Spurs and Brighton.

The squad seem to be growing into the Premier League and McKenna may well be happy that it seems to be a six team mini league to stay up.

I would have felt better with a draw on Saturday as I’m sure we all would!

But as a few others have said,we are in a mini league of the bottom 6 and I would be happy finishing 17th.

We were terrible against West Ham,other than that we haven’t been that bad.

You also have to consider that it's the same number of points as 2 other established Premier league teams. 4 points better than 1 promoted team and a point behind the other which we were completely robbed of a win against.
