Fair play to Al Hamadi - made himself a handful 21:54 - Dec 3 with 3535 views | Matt_Netherlands | Thought that was arguably his best cameo of the season so far. A shame Greaves header couldn’t just bounce off him and go in. Disappointing to hear a few quiet boos when he replaced Delap…. (Unless that was palace fans booing Delap?)

Fair play to Al Hamadi - made himself a handful on 10:50 - Dec 4 with 566 views | LankHenners | We were crying out for someone to rustle them a bit and make positive moves seeing as that aspect of our game dried up once Cajuste and Delap tired. Ali comes on and does that but because of pre-held opinions about his general level (which I don't really dispute) people feel compelled to knock him for his performance anyway. Not his fault that he's ended up with a bigger role than anyone expected. He was due to go on loan to a middling-to-low end Championship team but circumstance has meant he's now first choice back-up in the Premier League. He needs our support while he's in the team and hopefully come January we'll be able to recruit some help and he can go and improve himself at a more comfortable level. [Post edited 4 Dec 2024 11:20]

Why only on the bench though anyone ?

I assume a bit of rotation, due to two games close together. McKenna did that a lot in the Championship and League one too.

Yup but he didn't even get on the pitch , maybe its a bit simplistic but we started with 3 players behind Delap who have one goal between them and then none of the subs have scored at this level either while SS sits on the bench !

We seem to have fallen back into a trap we had about a year ago (I think, for a run of a couple of months) where we could only ramp up the intensity properly for the last ten minutes when we were losing. In this league you really need to put the hammer down when you’re on top (as we were outside the final third of the pitch for a lot of the game). Cajuste was class, Delap worked really hard without help, Omari was having to go out wide a lot so the ten was often empty until Chappers came on. Thought Morsy looked tired, and Leif didn’t get into the game quite as much as we need him to.

Fair play to Al Hamadi - made himself a handful on 23:58 - Dec 3 by rickw | I'd written him off at this level, but I thought he looked a real handful when he came on, maybe showing if he's given more time he can prove he can play at this level |
I agree with this. Those bashing him need to remember that he is the only game in town until January, and it is better to support him than look for every opportunity to criticise. He's relatively inexperienced and young, and jumping up to playing as the lone man up top against, usually, two or three international level Centre Backs, having spent most of his career playing against kids or carthorses. There were real signs of intent and improvement last night. It might not be enough, and he may be near his ceiling, but as long as he puts in maximum effort every time he is asked to come on then we should support and encourage him. He has the potential to be another Shefki Kuqi- a really good Championship player who had some effectiveness in the Prem. If he matches Shefki's work rate then that is fine by me.
