Dropping Muric? 22:37 - Dec 8 with 3769 viewsringwoodblue

If McK did drop Muric and Walton comes in and does a better job then happy days. However if nothing changes and we still continue to lose games, then we’ve shattered Muric’s confidence for nothing and we then have to find someone else to blame.

Barring Muric getting injured, I think we have to stick with him.

In McK we trust.

It’s very frustrating that people are looking at Muric and not the players ahead of him. His mistake was a gamble gone wrong, but the second goal he made a decent save with his feet.

Let alone the fact plenty of players ahead of him didn’t do their jobs. Both full backs were dragged out, the wingers didn’t do their job and the midfield got overrun.

We’ve been here before when things are down, but it doesn’t make it any less infuriating

Without the first 'gamble gone wrong', he wouldn't have even had to make the decent save with his feet. We'd likely have gone on to close out the game.

You’re lacking context. He doesn’t rush out and give a goal away the second goal and the pressure for what would be a late equaliser may never have happened.

No idea why folk are defending some very naive decision making. Man City, Brentford, United…all games he’s cost us. Brighton is the only real game of note when he’s excelled, arguably he did well at Forest. The rhetoric that “he makes saves” is funny; he’s a goalkeeper, it’s what they do. Walton makes saves too! Walton in.

Alternatively, you don't drop him, he starts to think he's undroppable and continues to put in brain-dead performances like yesterday.

Muric is an aberration of a signing. Up there with Sereni IMO.

We went from Hladky who had some genuine football IQ to a 6ft 6" giant with nothing between his ears.

I don't care if he's a good shot stopper. That's a prerequisite for any PL-level goalkeeper IMO. I don't care if he's good at claiming crosses - that's a prerequisite for anyone of his size and stature. I just want a keeper to make sensible decisions and play the situation.

We have no hope of staying up with him in the sticks, because you can be sure as eggs are eggs that we'll have more games like yesterday - battling well, fighting hard for every ball and defending a lead, only for Muric to burst the bubble with yet another brain fart. Enough.

Yep, & he’d be a bloody decent keeper if he wasn’t so thick.

As you say the raw attributes are there, he just need me to be less stupid.

Not sure that logic works at all. He doesn’t rush out there we have no idea what the rest of the game looks like.

I didn’t see people slating Delap for taking the ball off Chaplin at Forest for an easy tap in for example. Both gambles just as costly and avoidable in hindsight.

He doesn't rush out, they've still got a helluva lot of work to do to score from there. If you rush out like that, the xG from the opportunity must go up several magnitudes IMO.

As for slating Delap, I was very critical of him for doing just that at the time. His link play is the main aspect of his game that needs work and the one area that Hirst has over him right now, since he would've definitely laid it off to Chaplin.

I think I see what you mean, but that wasn’t a dig at you but a general comparison because it didn’t confirm the 0/9 we ended up with.

No one around me really dig him out at Forest it has to be said, that was more the point.

Muric just has no credit with a large chunk of the fans and it’s quite damaging. Not quite Andy Marshall levels but the same principle. The longer it festers the more people are anticipating him screwing up etc

Thought I saw a rumour last week that Juventus are following Muric? Could be convenient.

Not Muric’s first rodeo in that respect though is it? We’re 15 games in and we’re having this debate every third or fourth game - it’s not good enough.

What I find bewildering is that Walton doesn’t play for a season and steps in for our biggest game in nearly quarter of a century and performs admirably. A week later we play our second biggest game in nearly quarter of a century and Muric has an abysmal debut gifting goals for fun yet folk on here are still back Muric over Walton or don’t have confidence in Walton? It’s bizarre.

We made big errors with the Hladky deal and have been ill advised on Muric. He may come good and I hope he does but right now, we need dependability; Walton is that. And for those saying, “yeah but League One”…look at Burgess, Chaplin, Davis, Morsy, Taylor…all at home in the Prem so why wouldn’t Walton be on a regular basis?

Muric made the same kind of costly errors at Burnley. Not sure what we are expecting to change if we just keep playing him.

I couldn't care less about Muric's feelings!

He's here to do a job and he's been absolutely woeful so far. I'm certain we wouldn't be in the bottom three if we had a remotely competent goalkeeper this season.

Do you want us to sleep walk into relegation just because you're afraid of bruising Muric's ego? No other player gets a free ride and neither should he.
