Cameron Burgess: the performance of the season 07:23 - Dec 9 with 2037 viewsDJR

His was an astonishing performance yesterday, and he more than anyone didn't deserve the end result.

That first half, I honestly don’t know if a Town CB has ever had a better 45mins?
If the goal had stood that would have been the icing on the cake for me.

He also Van Dijked three of their attackers when it was just him in defence. If they had been Van Dijk, pundits would have been jizzing their pants.

Man of the match by far and should 100% be starting the next game unless injured.

TBF the R5 commentators were in raptures about him during the game. Co-comms was Matty Fryatt and he said it was a stand out performance.
It sounds as though he definitely didn't deserve the mad ending.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

The good thing about Burgess as well is that at 29, he's not going to be widely linked with moves to big clubs.

If we go down, I think he will stay and will be a rock in the championship again.

We would still have a good spine;

Woolf, Burgess, Morsy, Taylor, Chaplin, Hirst.

Not just his defending, the coolness of getting the ball, looking up and passing to Chaplin for the goal.

A few players hopefully thanked him during the game for getting them out of trouble, including our captain after he lost the ball

When those who are stupidly calling for KMc’s head pause for thought they should look at Cam and reflect on what a great coach he is. Signed from Accrington in his mid-20’s to play L1 football and in - out of the team at that level he has developed in to a quality international EPL defender.

Credit due to Cam and the coaching staff.

When Morsy sold Muric short in the first half and Burgess saved him you could see him Sam thank him.

He was superb. I thought those conditions were made for big Cameron and O'Shea, especially against their front line, I thought we would fancy it more and the 1st half proved that way. If he could've just knocked that one behind for their opener it might've gone down as one of the best defensive performances I've seen from a Town player in years.

And to think it was less than two years ago he was blundering around in the fog at Oxford looking a good way off the top of League 1 level. The personal growth from that point on has been immense.

IF we were to face the drop… we have a defence of Burgess, O’Shea, greaves, Wolf, Tuanzebe… in the championship.
That’s pretty incredible

I’ve always thought Burgess a good player. He has a good presence about him too. He’s a big bloke with a good level of skill for a CB. If it was me, I’d pencil him and one other in to the CB positions and leave well alone. He was excellent again yesterday.

I was following the BBC live action on their website and they kept calling him Christian Burgess.
