Thought I would look at how he is doing this year. Was very surprised in a sad way. Thought he would rip up the National league but only 18 appearances for Southend out of 24 and 0 goals. That's some decline in 3 years sadly.

Possibly more like his half season with us was an anomaly. He wasn’t wanted before of after. Weird how he could be on fire for 4 months and then go completely off the boil though.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Perhaps we can give Paul Cook some credit for that half season.

Veni Vidi Participatur. Now we can get back to competing.

I'm sure he's very fondly remembered at Orient, - 45 goals in 90 games. He seems to have been a player who is very good in a team at the top of the league. Even in his early days at Colchester he was known as a flat-track bully, as most of his goals seemed to come against non-league teams in the FA Cup.

But I'm sure we all wish him well, and that things pick up for him.

Motivation left him. I think he came here the most motivated he's been and was his dream. Think the fire went out of his belly when we let him go. Don't mean just game to game. Think he is someone that needs to be on top of his fitness and you let the motivation for 10% and this is the outcome for him.

He's still a capable player but I imagine he would need real motivation and hunger to get back to something like his best.

I feel like we've had strikers fairly often do this for us.

Francis Jeffers had a decent loan with us then never recaptured his form.

DJ Campbell did great for us then played for Maidenhead a few years later.

It's a bit of a stretch, but Waghorn had a decent season with us and then didn't set the world on fire in a very good Derby team. The same goes for Daryl Murphy.

In that four month spell he did look a little livewire

I wouldn't quite put him in the same bracket but the drop off for Johnny Williams was quite something as well

When they have showed interviews with him, it did seem like he had paper thin confidence

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
