That’s it, that’s the post.

What. A. Player.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

It’s actually the opposite - if we’d signed Wolfie for £15m you’d be gushing over him. I can only imagine he took your son’s spot in the academy at centre half if you’re still slagging him off after he has proven himself good enough for the Prem

That's my point. Not having a go at Wolf.... just the ones who go over the top about him. He doesn't need this over-adulation. He's not a rolls-royce player... or a Beckenbauer... he's a good defender who's improved at every level he's been with us.... but maybe someone who needs to add a bit of aggression and old- school defending to his game. Last night he did great.... but then the same over-the-top comments and excuses (;had to play alongside Clarke, for example). He's 25 now.... time for him to be judged like everyone else. We're lucky ....4 decent CBs...but O'shea is an upgrade on Wolf.

And what about people who immediately switch to talking about him being dropped after a good game? Over-the-top the other way?

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

I disagree on the "upgrade" comment. Some people highlight every little error by Wolf, but ignore it when other CH's make errors. O'Shea was great last night, but he made 2 errors that Wolf cleared up.
The reason why some people go over the top re Wolf is because those who criticise him are not consistent, they're a bit like VAR.
If the O'Shea worshipers were consistent they would be saying he was great last night but needs to stop switching off during games and cut out the silly errors like last night.

Your comment "He doesn't need this over-adulation. He's not a rolls-royce player... or a Beckenbauer... he's a good defender who's improved at every level" I would argue is the same for O'Shea and Greaves, they're all' good defenders'.

But the fact is all 3 looked happier in a 3 formation last night, whereas all 3 have struggled this season when playing in a 2.

Not to mention the time O’Shea dived in for no reason on the edge of the box to give arguably the best free kick taker in the world a chance from 25 yards out

He took criticism because he came in and looked no better than Woolfenden for the first few games. If you're going to drop someone for doing nothing wrong then his replacement needs to be a clear improvement. And that was missing to start off with. See also Muric and Walton (unlike O'Shea I don't think we've seen any improvement from Muric the more games he's played).

I thought Woolfenden would get some credit after yesterday's performance. Seemingly there's nothing he can do to convince some of how his presence benefits the side.

There’s a common issue with both O Shea and Muric in that, unbeknown to all of us, both have been playing whilst carrying injuries. I think we can all be guilty of making premature calls on the abilities of players before they’ve had time to bed in.

McKenna's a minor miracle worker when it comes to squad morale as, if I was Walton or Woolfenden, I'd be fuming that he trusted someone with an injury seemingly limiting their play over me. Perhaps they both are and, as I said yesterday, are now playing with a grudge. If so, keep going, as they both put in their best performances yesterday.

I was clear that I didn't rate him, saw last year that he had the psychical side of things but not too great on the ball nor technically. Ropey couple of games didn't help.

BUT he has been bloody superb since October. He is likely one of the first names on the team sheet (pretty sure he wore the armbands on Friday too..).

It also goes to show what a great coach KM is. We have 4 CBs, two who have played most of their football at league 1, one youngster with potential and a oft championship based defender and all four have come in and done a sterling job every time.

Incredible really. I was quite positive even 4 weeks ago we would stay up but every game we just get better and better. What a year!

I said similar to a friend recently, if Brentford and / or Brighton are interested they've probably got something about them. They're not bad at recruitment.

Nor are we - didn't read about either of them being in for Liam! Did anyone honestly realise he was *this* potentially good last year? Makes you wonder what we'll unearth in January...suddenly relatively-uninspiring-sounding links like Maja might end up with us breeding a new Haal...well, another Delap!

My take is that we have four excellent centre backs, all able to compete at this level.

In my view, it's the strongest area of our team, especially when it comes to cover.

And when fit, there's Axel waiting in the wings.
