Delap rumour on ChelseaChronicle 12:44 - Jan 9 with 5854 viewsBlueMoon

Suggesting that Delap may be open to a Jan move to Chelsea...

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/news/liam-delap-seems-to-have-changed-his-mi

Can't see why we'd consider this given what's at stake for us with trying to stay up. He's going to get offers at the end of the season regardless so he can bide his time.

Makes me wonder is this how we're able to be going after so many players though? Hopefully not...

Big enough offer we sell. He could get a career ending injury, Ashton will know that, the club isn't going to turn down £70+m. It's s business, people need to stop being sentimental about employees.

But Chelsea won't offer that all in cash it will be cash plus a couple of players.

what ballpark are you putting an incredible offer in Joe?

I think it has to be a figure which would blow out of the water what he'll be worth in the summer.

In the summer, even if we go down he's going to be a £50-60m player so it's going to need to be £75m+

Seems genuine, no risk of bias with this story!!

If you read through the links in the story, they all go back to other articles by the same author with no tangible links or 3rd party quotes - apart from the Delap quote stating how he is focussed on Ipswich.

Agree with everyone else, unless they're bidding around the £80million mark, we're not going to sell. He's worth too much to us right now.

Summer is a different matter.

For those considering what would be the fee they would sell at, don’t forget Man City have a 20% sell on clause in the event of a sale.

Everyone has a price of course, but I would be doing everything in my power to hold onto him to the summer & im sure Ashton & co will be doing the same

I'd say that Chelsea set the bar on overpaying with the Caicedo deal, so it would surely hold out for £100M+

Shame he isn't a Wasserman client, else it would been even higher.

Why not turn it down? There's no financial pressure to sell.

It would be commercially bonkers to cash in with half the season to go, do you think he'll be worth anything less in the summer?

Delap's valuation is only going to increase between now and the end of May.

Would be utterly illogical to offload this month and therefore make our return to the Championship more likely.

People seem to think our American owners are cut from the same financial cloth as previous Town owners.

They really are not.

Can see there will be some very disappointed fans if/when he is sold at some point. £80m… I mean, come on.
Feel free to bookmark too.

Excellent player, but £80m?

We’ll be good again... one day
