All else being equal…. If you had to swap PR for another British stadium? 16:48 - Jan 13 with 5756 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Imagine Portman Road is gone. You have to pick up another stadium and drop it into IP1 for the remainder of this seasons matches. Fixtures are the same, ticket demand is the same, location the exact same.

Which stadium are you going for and why?

Think my pick would be Villa Park. I reckon we could fill it for most games this season, and there’s something special about a four sides stadium…. And I couldn’t bring myself to say Elland Road.

MK Dons stadium. Quite liked it and can be expanded to 40k as well.

And there’s probably quite a few seats that are still brand new and unused.

My perfect PR stadium:
1. Steep, single-tier kop. Safe-standing. High side-walls from front to back to maximise acoustics, no corner seats. A bigger version of Portsmouth's home end would be perfect: the noisiest end I've ever heard.

2. All three rest of sides: overlapping steep tiers. I'm thinking Boca Juniors' stadium, where you don't so much walk to your seat as abseil to it:

All stands bang on the touch-line like our side-stands are now or QPR's. So close you can whisper to the throw-taker and can legally shoulder the oppo winger into row 2. Proper cauldron of noise and an intimate fan experience. 40k should cover us.

I’ve been fortunate to watch a game there - wasn’t planned but was there on holiday.

A completely unreal experience for what was against a much smaller club. I can only imagine what it must be like when they play River Plate there.

If we went for Gillingham, all we'd need is a couple of scaffolders and a truck and we could have it moved to Ipswich in time for Thursday's game.

I've been to all our away games this season, and basing it on atmosphere generated (admittedly only after they'd equalised), it would have to be the Wolves stadium, with the massive single tier stand behind the goal producing an awful lot of noise.

It is also a four stand stadium which I have come to the conclusion I prefer in contrast to the modern and rather soulless bowl stadiums.

Yeah I went there for a game about 20 odd years ago. Unreal place. Definitely about to fall down and wouldn't pass UK health and safety rules, but still...

I've got a bit of a soft spot for the Ajax Arena.

I also like the idea of Villa Park as well as some of the other grounds mentioned such as the city ground. Style wise I quite like Ashton Gate, Vicarage Road and Craven Cottage although at the present moment in time we'd ideally want something a bit larger capacity wise than the three of them.

If talking relatively new grounds then yes already mentioned above the idea of a mini Spurs stadium is good but as an alternative, not that anyone has seen a game there yet to see what it's really like on a match day, but of the modern stadiums built in recent years I really like what I've seen so far of Everton's new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium and as has been mentioned in some other posts it's a stadium with blue seats.

You're being very optimistic about the A12.
