All else being equal…. If you had to swap PR for another British stadium? 16:48 - Jan 13 with 5986 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Imagine Portman Road is gone. You have to pick up another stadium and drop it into IP1 for the remainder of this seasons matches. Fixtures are the same, ticket demand is the same, location the exact same.

Which stadium are you going for and why?

Think my pick would be Villa Park. I reckon we could fill it for most games this season, and there’s something special about a four sides stadium…. And I couldn’t bring myself to say Elland Road.

MK Dons stadium. Quite liked it and can be expanded to 40k as well.

Agreed. The best of the modern bowl-type grounds I've been to.

Not Cardiff or Derby.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Yep. I’ve been lucky enough to have friends with STs there and a European night can be quite the spectacle. Proper location for a ground too, rather than in an out of town shopping centre. It’s in great nick too after all the work on it.

Edit - it’s a bit crap if you’re at the top of the stand in the away section though.

I’ve always loved the tight design of Loftus Road. I know some seats have a bad view and it isn’t big enough, but I can’t think of anything else I’d prefer.

You can get some serious atmosphere going in that place. Mind you, a sold out Barnsley away end takes some beating.

Boleyn Ground AKA Upton Park

Good shout. Even in the away end you were within an arms reach of the players.

Plenty of pubs around and easy to get to as well.

Agree, Villa Park for me too, proper footy ground.

Edit: I did study in Nottingham, and attended quite a few games at the City Ground, and odd occasion Meadow Lane. I quite like the City Ground but prefer Villa park.

Stood on the old Kop before it was all seater, another decent 4 sided ground, but behind Villa Park, as the Holte End is something else.

The Bernabeu, Madrid stadium. 78k capacity, suck that up Spurs! Go for it!

I’m sure we could fill it……. Maybe not.

U.K.? Shrink Anfield a little and that’ll do.

Pride Park, purely as we have such a good record there.

Something with better road access, like Colchester, straight off the a14 with plenty of parking.

San Siro but 80k a bit hefty but great gladiatorial look to it. Went last year saw A C Milan beat Empoli 1 nil. Crowd that day about 60k.

British; MK's and probably fill it rest of this season

what a great question!
Haven't been to Forest, but think Pride Park was good. Villa Park good shout too. And MK. Also haven't been to the Amex, but from what I've heard the stadium is good but the location isn't. Drop it into IP1 though!

Composite:

Oakwell North Stand (6,000) obviously, The Kop (27,000 proper old-skool standing), Boleyn Ground side stand, the one to our left for that play-off night match (15,000? guess) and the Budgies stand opposite the camera position at Carrot Road (maybe 2,000?) as a sarcastic tribute to the pride of Norfolk.

50,000 - done.

Side story - I was lucky enough to go to the Bernabeu many years ago. Sat in the top tier, up with the gods, where they even had heaters fixed to the roof!

Emirates stadium yes because I went in 2011. Would accept that on Portman road with padded seats all round. But Portman road is class.

Doesn’t quite fit the bill of being British, but as the crow flies it’s almost 100km closer to PR than Anfield is, so I’ll allow it given it’s a class stadium.
