Dennis Law and me! 11:31 - Jan 18 with 1205 viewsTheProf

Decades ago, returning from a conference, and standing at a urinal at Euston station, Dennis Law moved in alongside me at the adjacent urinal, put his hand on my shoulder and said, How’s the Prof —mentioning my name —today? How do you know my name? I asked. He replied you still got your f-ing badge on.

What a great player Dennis the King was. The bicycle kick was his trademark goal. I think I'm right in saying his goals for Man City sent Man Utd down to League One. R.I.P. Dennis.

It was actually a back heel late in the game for City to make it 1-0. He thought he’d sent United down to the 2nd Division, but other results meant they would have gone down anyway.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Precisely. The parents of Dennis Bergkamp named their son after Denis Law but also couldn’t spell his name correctly.

No, the Dutch didn't allow Bergkamp's parents to name him "Denis" as that was a girl's name so they named him "Dennis".
