question about non-teaching jobs in schools 13:36 - Feb 11 with 1171 views | giant_stow | I've been watch Educating East London, and old channel 4 show about a particular school. I think I could do the job of go-between between kids in trouble and the teachers, but how on earth do you get into that line of work? Sorry if this is boring.

Maybe you could try to get some relevant experience by working as a Teaching Assistant with those pupils with SEND (special needs and disabilities). [Post edited 11 Feb 13:44]

question about non-teaching jobs in schools on 13:50 - Feb 11 with 1057 views | Mullet | Look for pastoral jobs - head of year, pastoral support officer and similar such jobs. The job spec will make it clear if it’s a teaching role or not. It’s not a glamorous or well paid job though. One word of warning though, don’t go into it thinking you’re there to save the kids or protect them from teachers etc. it’s about teamwork with the adults and communicating with parents and other staff too. The really excellent staff who do this and last a long time understand it’s a difficult balance.

question about non-teaching jobs in schools on 13:50 - Feb 11 with 1056 views | MillsTash | Look for advertised jobs such as behaviour support, behaviour support assistant as well as Teaching Assistant although this is not behaviour related. Only downside with these positions wages aren't great.

Thanks Mullet. Appreciate the warning too. My eyes are open though - without going into details, I've seen all sorts of behaviours on a footy pitch and that's when they're actively choosing to be there, so realise school must levels up from that.

question about non-teaching jobs in schools on 14:27 - Feb 11 with 909 views | Mookamoo | Have a go at Youth Work volunteering first The Mix in Stowmarket do a few excellent alternative provision projects where they have link workers in schools that then work with the young people outside school hours. Somewhere like that are good to chat to and will often have programs that need volunteers to help out.
question about non-teaching jobs in schools on 17:40 - Feb 11 with 722 views | factual_blue | As part of this role are you allowed to say 'sort yourself out, your snivelling little child'? Either to the pupil or the teacher; I wouldn't mind which one.
