Championship 15:01 - Feb 13 with 2277 views | FrimleyBlue | If the likes of Leeds, Sheff Utd, Burnley come up.. who are the remaining 'Parachute' clubs in the champ? Nodge - it was either this is their last year or it was last season.. can't remember Luton obviously.. but maybe going to league 1 Who else is part way through their parachute payments?

Championship on 15:20 - Feb 13 with 2179 views | FullerFlavour | Don't think there is anyone else. Payments are only for two years. A third year is payable IF a team was in the Premier League for more than one season at the point of getting relegated. Norwich's ended last season. If Burnley and Sheffield United are promoted, it would only be Luton receiving such payments again next season of the current Championship sides IF they stay up of course. That's my understanding of such matters.

Thanks, Has there been a recent time where so little parachute clubs have been in it? it must make transfers quite an intriguing watch.

Although it would benefit Town, it feels more and more as if the Premier League and top three or four of the Championship is well on its way to becoming a closed shop. It could well be that the only financial juggernauts in the division next season will be the three relegated sides, and you'd probably (even now) bet on them going straight up again.

It's an interesting scenario, club A needs to sell to buy.... but no one can afford club A's players either....

Question from the thicky in the room - Luton don't lose their parachute by dropping to League One? Its just more that they wont be a championship team with parachute money?

No idea what happens to it if they drop into League One. But I think you're right, and I assume they still get the second year.

They'll be an interesting watch Pretty much either have to spend alot again and get promoted, or spend the following season really having to sell to make PSR you've have to think

It isn’t enough to have cash to splash you have to keep within the financial rules, unless of course you are Leicester.

As with us, wasn’t it easier to spend in League 1 as compared to championship? Different financial rules and all that

Why don’t clubs get parachute payments when they drop from Championship to L1? Seems a bit elitist.

I would think they would be even more in need of the payments if they drop into L1. Cant see them being revoked on relegation. [Post edited 13 Feb 16:03]

Although, It may give them an even higher advantage of the rest of the league, as Parachute payments would count as turnover wouldn't it, so they'd be able to spend upto 60% of it on wages...

They would still get the parachute payments in League One, Sunderland did a few years back, when they had a double relegation. It is very rare now, with parachute payments, but can still happen.

Tbh I think it’s been a closed shop for years now, and frankly the Plastic League can keep it.
