I know this is a bit Mumsnet but so what, the amount of total sh1te I read on here by the usual suspects puts this post to shame.
Anyhoo....
My mates wife died a few years back. Matey and I had drifted a bit bit but mates are mates so I said I'd call him.
This was about 6 years ago and we have bumped into each other maybe twice but that's about it.
Funnily enough it was one of those youtube links that started it, 999 came on and I thought to myself, N***** used to love 999.
So, picked the phone up and had a 30 min chat.
I fully appreciate that this is arguably the most boring post in history but myself and N***** feel better.
N***** might die tomorrow but at least I've spoken with him.

Not boring at all! In fact your post just highlights the importance of old style pick up the phone and talk to peeps in person. It's too easy in the modern age to send a WhatsApp or just not bother and become self consumed in your own sh1t.
Had a crap day over here brought the car in for a service got a call this afternoon saying it need 927 lids worth of work. Then work etc...
Settled down and then got a calendar reminder that I had my monthly catchup with one of my besties who know resides over state side. I was knackered and was tempted to whatsapp them and say not tonight Josephine. Before I did he messaged me saying "are we chatting tonight?". 90mins zoom catchup later so glad I made the effort which honestly wasn't an effort at all bar me being tired.
In fact tonight and your post Luccers remind me of this time of year when it's manky weather wise and I debated about going to hockey training....the right decision was always go.

Great post. I went for a drink last night with my two closest friends, the first time in months due to a mixture of new children, work, house buying etc.
