The VAR should not have got involved once the referee gave the penalty as there was clear contact regardless of whether Young exaggerated going down or not. As there was no clear and obvious error the on field referees decision should have stood. Compare this with Delap’s pen against Chelsea. Yes it was soft too but there was also clear contact made so VAR correctly did not overturn the in field referee’s penalty decision,as it should be. | | | |
