He's been very important for their tempo and speed of passing, had a cracking season. Palace have a decent squad but will miss him and Mateta. Obviously we've plenty of issues too but this levels things out a touch.
Hopefully we can go there, set up not dissimilarly to vs Forest, force them into a stodgy and frustrating day & nick something later on in the game. We have it in us, we really have to start doing it now. [Post edited 7 Mar 14:36]

A Palace fan on Twitter the other week was hoping he was going to get booked so he missed the next two and was back for Brighton. Hopefully they’ll miss him for tomorrow more than they thought they would.

Although Hughes is out, Wharton is back and purring again, which is a concern IMO.
Like you, though, I still think we've got it in us to grind something out. Adopt the same approach as Villa away. Up until the Axel red, we looked a threat on the counter and pretty solid at the back. | | | |

I thought he was head and shoulders above our central midfielders in the game at Portman Road.
He's never mentioned as a potential England player or particularly lauded by the media, just a decent Premier League player getting on with his job very well.

While they do have Wharton back up and running, I thought he was pretty average when they were playing in the Cup (against Doncaster I think). Hughes was a level above. Think Doucoure is the more like for like replacement and he is unavailable too. | | | |
