My thoughts 17:39 - Mar 15 with 1957 viewsjasondozzell

Burgess is more comfortable on the ball than Greaves. We looked so much more balanced when he came on.
Broady and Hirst have deserved more minutes this season. Broady moves the ball more quickly and always plays for the team . Delap is amazing but Hirsty is the more complete striker.
Cajuste was outstanding. Deserved his goal and deserved to be on a winning side.
We did at least not capitulate in that second half.
Can't be too downhearted. Was always going to be a very challenging season.
I feel sorry for KM. Trying to put together a team on the hoof whilst managing the step up and keeping everyone involved and adapting to reality of league must be hell of a challenge.

I don't think greaves is 100% fit. He can't be

I've rewatched some highlights and his on and off ball movement Is different.

Think you could well be right. I like Greaves - he's clearly a good player with a lot of potential. But Burgess is more consistent at the moment.

Greaves hasn't looked right since he picked up an injury early in the season.

....looked terrible when he came on.

Constantly gave the ball away and could barely make a 5 yard pass.

He definitely didn't look comfortable on the ball.

Funny how people see things differently!

Worth noting that Forest made almost no attempt at all to press in the second half.

....it's not really their style.

It was a bit of a concern that we didn't know that before the match.

That moment when Wolfie just stood there with the ball waiting for them to commit was a bit embarrassing really.

We really struggle against teams that sit off in that mid block or whatever the football hipsters call it.

Woolfy clearly been told to try to get them to commit as you say.

It makes we can't make an extra man and we don't get any movement into our game.

I don't know what you do against Forest because they are lethal if you lose the ball pushing too much.

Yeah, agree with that, just that they we're even remotely engaging in the second half, even less so than in the first half.

FWIW I thought their organisation was exceptional, coupled with their physical size, making them a very tough nut to crack. Add to that the speed at which they countered on the turnover, and you can see why they are where they are.

...nobody has really worked out a game plan to counteract their style yet, not regularly anyway.

They are incredibly predictable really when you look at it. Obviously very good at it and very efficient in general, but it shouldn't really be beyond all of these "top level" coaches to deal with it.

I dunno.

Agreed they having one of those seasons - Wood won’t have another like this and with Europe next year they will be down near the bottom.

Burgess has managed to earn himself a status where if he deliberately kicked the ball into his own net several times he'd still get praised as if he were prime Maldini. Think it's people valuing the players who have been here longer through sentimentality. Broadhead's the same - comes on and looks completely lost but people still say he should be starting every week.

Agree thought Burgess looked really ropey - very awkward on the ball and was doing his thing where instead of heading the ball with any purpose he sort of just jumps into it and it bounces off his head in a seemingly random direction.

Been very obvious to me why Greaves has been playing instead (even if he hasn't hit the same performance levels as before his injury earlier in the season).

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

they didn't paticularly press first half either, they were happy to allow us into their half where predictably we would lose it so they can break.

Along with a horrendous injury list. We’ve really been hit hard with key players.

Building a new defence is hard. Building it at the top level in a team up against it is really really hard. We needed some luck with injury and just that they could gel quickly.

I don't care what anyone says O'Shea and Greaves are quality players and if we can keep hold of them can push us on in the next few years.

Greaves, probably mentally just needs to be taken out of the firing line for a game or two. If Cam performs he can stay in. But panning all this on Greaves is harsh and Woolf also struggled today in critical moments.

We have class ingredients for the champ next year. It's a shame but next season will be exciting and we'll all need to get onboard with the group and they can take us places again and be more experienced for our next prem.campaign with more quality added again.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?

We lost 3-0 in the first half.
We won 2-1 in the second half.

Greaves is not the worst player to have played for the club, but his transfer fee looks unfortunate at best, and if I were Burgess I would be spitting feathers at why I was not starting ahead of him.

We spent a lot of money in the summer, and I'm really not convinced our defence has improved.

Same style as Leicester when they won the PL, sit back and hit you on the counter attack, and to be fair like Leicester they're very good at it.
