I honestly don't trust a word that the Telegraph prints when it comes to politics, especially when it is speculative like this.

Any other sources?

You should substitute Telegraph for "Anyone".

Should be taxing wealth not work - sick of everything coming after workers on PAYE and Small/Medium businesses because they are the easiest targets.

Gary Stevenson was on Question Time last night so his profile is growing.

Good to hear, I like a lot of what he says and how he says it.

I only skimmed that article, but David Davis moans about civil liberties and the 'Tax Payers Alliance' talking about how HMRC are going after high net worth people etc.

The middle class is being so squeezed, and with regards to HMRC getting involved we had a worker who had been overpaid a benefit for one of their children - it is up to us as an employer to stop it from his net pay and transfer the money to DWP; and we get fined if it doesn't happen - so all this stuff happens all the time

The burden for everything falls onto employers now and it makes no difference if you are employing 100,000 people or 2 - they still expect you to do everything and do it to their schedule or you get fined. Nothing the other way when they are late making payments, or the like - no payment to do the unnecessary admin that they should be doing.

How are you coping with the NI increase or are your workers self employed?

People who don't employ people think it's insignificant and shout "Way to go UK" - but we have laid someone off over this, we were carrying him anyway, he always asked for his wages a week early and he still owes me money.

Our courier firm has even issued us with an NI levy, they are directly adding an NI surcharge to each invoice - and we spend £3000 a week with this courier.

We'll find out in a couple of weeks, but most of our guys are employed directly so will hit us - but everything hits us as a business, and then hits me personally afterwards so a double whammy on everything.

We've just effectively had to put our rates up when pricing things, but it's a bit barren out there for work at the moment as presuming people are scared to spend - still a lot of decent pub work going on but without that and having to rely on domestic stuff we'd be up the creek without a paddle
