And imagine if Burnley miss out on autos and only concede something like 15 goals in 46 games. (11 thus far). Bonkers and then some.

This time last year the thought was that promotion could be missed with a high nineties points total. Although following the international break the promotion chasing teams found the wins harder to come by. I think the Leeds 90 points in third place will be beaten this time. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I know it's being defeatist, but watching the Champ is exciting me for next season. Currently we have Burns, Chaplin, Ogbene, Broadhead, Clarke, Szmodics, Philogene, Omari, Hirst and Delap to throw it at. They won't all be here of course but 7 or 8 probably will be...

I am not convinced. The Championship seems so competitive and yet the top 3/4 for the last 2 seasons have finished so far ahead. However, where we came from to achieve that shows it's not just the relegated teams doing that. There is a point at which each division could be broken down into mini leagues but then who would have put Forest, Man Utd and Tottenham into the ones they are in before the start of the season? Who would have put Derby and Luton into the one they are in? Perhaps it's just the optimistic side of me but I hope the relegation of the promoted sides last season and this season is a blip rather than the new pattern.

And being relegated from the PL, with a nice amount of cash, as well as potential money from sales, will allow us to take our pick of the best Championship players from this season that don't go up. Similar to Sheff Utd signing Callum O'Hare, I can see us going in for Ben Sheaf.

I am certain that had Burns, Chaplin, Ogbene, Hirst and Szmodics stayed fit for most of the season we would be making a better go of this season too. I am sure there are better times ahead than this season. Take 5 of the best players away from any of the established Premier teams and they would underachieve. Look at the difference to Spurs and Man City when they had a lot missing.

Burns - 3 months Ogbene - 8 months Chaplin - 3 or 4 months Hirst - 3 months? Szmodics - 3 months? Tuanzebe - 2 months? Give or take, the amount of time these players have or will have missed by the end of the season. We really have been shafted by injuries. Even Phillips must have missed a month or so. I think if all had been fit we'd still be competing for survival at this point, struggling probably, but in with a shout. But you have to expect injuries, to an extent.

I hope they don’t go up, can’t stand Parker and his stifling style of football. Whatever you think about Leeds and Sheffield Utd, they are at least entertaining (in the Championship).

Coventry weren’t full strength when we played them and still managed to score.
