Do you forget where we have come from ? 10:12 - Mar 31 with 1022 views | OldFart71 | Reading the EADT article by Mark Ashton and in particular one of the replies and it struck me that there are many who forget where we are and where we have come from. Just a couple of seasons ago we were in Division One and previous to that spent 17 seasons in the Championship. The whole club from top to bottom was run down. Portman Road looked a mess. No direction on the pitch either. Fans being fans tried to believe the Marcus Evans drivel where on many occasions we were told that money was available. Yes in most cases where someone had been sold and a lesser player brought in and in some cases they weren't replaced at all. Only the most loyal fans bought ST's and they were half of what they are now. Along came Gamechanger followed by Ashton and McKenna all of whom have dragged this club up by the roots and turned it into a club to be proud of. Of course there have been mistakes. Someone who hasn't made a mistake hasn't done anything. It may take another five or ten years to get everything in place. They are upgrading training facilities and many parts of the stadium have been upgraded also and sometime in the next few years the Cobbold will be redeveloped. Part of the grand plan has to be scouting and they are aware of this. Just enjoy the ride as it is far from over whatever happens this season.
Do you forget where we have come from ? on 10:29 - Mar 31 with 913 views | SaffronWaldenBlues | Just a point, why do people call League One, Division One? I mean, League One is a silly name for it anyway; it's the third division, but it has never, ever, been called Division One. That aside, clubs like Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth and co spent years in the mire, many years more than we did, and while most of us respect the fact we have been promoted two tiers and the challenge it was to stay up, other clubs have had decades outside of the top flight (or relevance) and still made a go of it despite disadanatages and are now established top-flight clubs. The issue is now we have 17 clubs that have torn miles ahead of the rest of English football in the last 3 years, and whether anyone can realistically break into that 17 given the gulf.

Do you forget where we have come from ? on 10:41 - Mar 31 with 841 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | I think most fans do appreciate the situation, almost all. It is understandable, some of the frustration. It is never nice to lose games, especially heavily at times and football is all about emotions right so I get why people react irrationally sometimes. That being said, I think some fans have gone very OTT from what I've seen on here and on X at times. You would think the end of the world is coming. Mckenna is out of his depth, I wouldnt mind if Mckenna left, Delap is overrated, the transfer window was a disaster. Sometimes I think people just need to take a breath and realise that we just aren't good enough yet to be a real competitor at this level, that will take time, it may even need a few more promotions/relegations. But the club is in a great spot and there is SO much to be positive about. As you say just need to keep level headed until the end of the season, accept it for what it is and then a big year next year where promotion will be the goal and anything less will be deemed a failure. How good is it for that to be the case though, much better than being stuck 11th in league one. I do think most fans think this way though, deep down. [Post edited 31 Mar 10:42]

It’s going to be really confusing when we lose to Cardiff next year to work out whether we should be still be pleased as it isn’t long since we were in League One, or annoyed as it isn’t long since we were in the Premier League
