Morocco travel advice 21:58 - Apr 6 with 1416 views | Lord_Lucan | Always fancied going but never have. Mrs has a 10 day long run coming up without looking after the grandkids so I thought we might pop over. Any recommendations?? I'm thinking of a few days in Marrakesh and then driving for a few days stop in a beach town - but not keen on too many tourists. Also, whats the scoop re sunbathing, budgie smugglers and bikinis etc....walking around town shorts and strappy tops??? Thanks in advance.

I went to Marrakesh once.... on 22:07 - Apr 6 with 1354 views | Bloots | ....there was an old boy sitting in the main square/market/souk (whatever it's called) next to a 4 ft high pile of human teeth. There was also an actual snake charmer. We got a guide for the day but he didn't speak English, so that was a pointless exercise. And apparently Mick Jagger bought leather goods from every single shop/stall in the entire city. None of this helps you at all.

I saw a documentary once about a bloke who owned a bar in Casablanca It was quite seedy, there was some weird stag do with all the blokes dressed as nazis and some bloke at the piano kept playing the same song. You must remember this? I’m sure you’ll have seen it

Morocco travel advice on 07:41 - Apr 7 with 998 views | bradforblues | Been a couple of times, I'd say stay for no more than 3 days. It's reasonably cheap, warm and the jemas el-fnaa square is fun. Haggle hard, aim for 50% of whatever they ask. You will get bothered by sellers and never stop for fotos with snake charmers or monkeys. Visit Majorelle Gardens as well, aside from that change currency when your there at Hotel Ali near to the square, best rate by far.

Morocco travel advice on 07:59 - Apr 7 with 966 views | Steve_M | Two or three days is probably enough for Marrakech. It's a much easier and more regular trip for European tourists than even when I first went there and it was hardly a difficult trip then. And whilst the chaos of the main square is part of it's attraction, it's worth wandering away from there too. Last time I was there, did some walking in the Atlas mountains and finished with a day in Essouaira which is lovely and probably ideal for your fewer tourists beach bit. Slightly difficult to get a beer without food but there's at least one bar we found that was ok for that - even if it did have a larger than expected number of middle-aged European women with younger males.

Three days in Marrakech sounds fine, as does Essouaira. I'm happy to move around a bit from town to town. Not bothered about a beer, happy to have a dry holiday. I tend to do life in reverse. I've had a slight change of mind though and really fancy Beirut but it looks a bit on the cool side end of April.

Spain is too beery. I like the thought of Beirut but it’s the possible low temperature that’s putting me off. Chances of getting killed remains remote, you have to say it would be quite edgy though.

Yemen is a beautiful country. Amazing mountain terrain, coastal desert and little offshore islands like in cartoons and kids comics. Nice and warm, Red Sea for swimming. I was there in 1987. Don't think its changed much.
