This £30m release clause? 12:53 - Apr 15 with 4315 views | bobbyramsey | Sorry for another Delap related thread but has this £30m release clause now been confirmed (as would appear to be the case) or is it still open to speculation? Maybe I've missed something.....

This £30m release clause? on 13:30 - Apr 15 by Blue_In_Boston | If only one club wanted him then maybe he leaves for £30m. If six or seven want him, does that push his selling price up in a bidding war? Worst case scenario is that we have to listen to offers over £30m and the bidding war is in relation to how much they are prepared to pay Delap rather than transfer fee. |
The bidding war lands in his wages, not the transfer fee.

This £30m release clause? on 15:27 - Apr 15 by portmanking | Pretty well protected, I'd say. Especially as there's a 20% sell-on included too. Sell now for £30m (£12m profit) He goes on to do well, sold on again to an even bigger team in 3-4 years for £100m+ (£14m windfall in 3-4 years time) [Post edited 15 Apr 15:29]

Remember City get 20% of our profit.

This £30m release clause? on 14:36 - Apr 15 by Linners | Someone will pay good money for Muric - if we choose to sell. Still relatively young, experienced international, played a lot of games at the top level. I wouldn't be surprised if someone gives us a lot of our money back, it just might not be someone from England. |
There’s no way we’ll get anything close to what we paid for him. A couple million if we’re very lucky. He was erratic at Burnley and got relegated, and erratic with us and got relegated.

If so, we’ve sold ourselves short then haven’t we. Hardly surprising the whole of the PL big guns are circling. They must think it’s Christmas and there’s nothing we can do about it now. What a give away.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it? No one knew that Delap was going to rip up the opposition in quite the way he has, even the most optimistic among us, remember he wasn’t going to be our main striker, and wouldn’t have been had Broja been fit enough to sign. Also, the BBC reported the deal as £10m upfront and with £5m in add ons, which would mean that even if all those have been/will be triggered, we will still make £15m, less the 20% sell on clause. That does contradict the £15m plus add on reported by Phil though. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c880dme9x1eo [Post edited 15 Apr 16:35]

Don’t Man City get part of any profit we make from the first sale?

Or to put it another way, we’re losing at least 20miilion pounds.

But we're not, are we? That mythical extra £20m was never on the table because his agent insisted on the release clause. He'd never have been an Ipswich Town player if we didn't agree to it.

They'll get 20% of our £15m profit (£3m).

This £30m release clause? on 14:01 - Apr 15 by Illinoisblue | What if Delap declares himself a sovereign citizen who won’t be bound by any clause or contract, keeps this up all summer long, then Ashton converts him back and gets him to sign a new contract with a 100m release clause. |
We could do a Chelsea. Set up a shell cpmpany, ITFC (Bahamas) and bid £30M. ITFC accepts and then sell him back to ITFC for £30M with no more sell on clauses. Easy peasy.
