Not half as harmful as a viper’s nest full of F-35B stealth jets!

I think they've been a bit unreliable so far, plus someone might not like it - pretty high profile sending an aircraft carrier around the place, although having said all that, it's important to note that I know nothing and am but a dope-wissenned old tosser

Presumably this is about proving the things work? It won’t hurt in terms of international cooperation either. And then on the other side of the equation we’ve got 350k homeless and 4.5 million children living in poverty while these boys go and play with their billions of pounds toys. I suppose we’d be thankful if Vlad got even bigger ideas though.

I think we’d be better off with SE5a’s than SE5s. The latter was underpowered (150hp) but the ‘a’ version had a 200hp Hispano-Suiza engine in it. Lot better! Ok, so the the wings failed on the prototype, but it was one of the Royal Aircraft Factory’s finest aircraft. Aces McCudden and Mannock flew them with great success. It in SE5a form successfully operated from mid 1917 to the end of the war. The Sopwith Camel was a hugely successful WW1 aeroplane chalking up more kills than other allied aircraft. You had to be good to fly it as it had some pretty lethal flying characteristics, including a vicious spin. Probably best to use SE5a’s on the Carrier! Still, at least the Camel didn’t fall apart, catch fire without help or boil its pilot with radiator water. One of its predecessors, the DH2 was nickname ‘the spinning incinerator’ - by its own pilots. Not hard to work out why. Parachutes? Nah, no room too heavy. Lightweight chutes were invented but the authorities felt that might encourage airmen to leave their valuable aircraft prematurely. You jumped or fried. Fuel tank? You sat on that. Protection? A nice plywood chair. Brave men.
