Half marathon brick - Pioneer Stand 21:28 - Apr 27 with 1474 views

I did the stadium tour this afternoon, and spotted this brick/plaque a couple of meters up at the North Stand end of the Pioneer:

Neither of the guides had seen it before, or knew anything about it. It's inscribed:

"The Half Marathon Brick - carried 13 miles by F McSloy on the morning of Friday 27th August 1982."

Does anyone know any more about this?

F McSloy, or as they were known to their friends F, wanted to run with one of those bricks before it was built into the wall, it's a form of luck.
But F believed in reverse thinking and while 13 is often unlucky F believed it would bring Town luck post 1982. F decided as 13 is also the half marathon mark, F would run with the brick for that distance. The brick was installed and F predicted 40 years of good luck for Town - and the rest is history.
