He has propagated the silly "They shouldnt play from the back and thats the problem" nonsense, and just claimed that a ball accelerated as it travelled.

Maybe just maybe the commentators and refs call it like they see it and maybe not everything against us is a conspiracy.

But he’s right though? We’ve seen it first hand this season that playing out from the back invites danger. Burnley did the year before and were embarrassed.

Its not what the problem has been. And balls cannot accelerate in the air...

Without trying to sound like a well known Conservative thinker. When it comes to redrickstuhaart and a few others on here “Facts don’t care about your feelings” Feels rather a relevant quote.

I was agreeing with his statement about playing out from the back. However, with how footballs are designed nowadays, it’s entirely possible for it to accelerate whilst in the air, albeit minimal. [Post edited 25 May 17:36]

The whole point is to invite ‘danger’. You want the opposition to push up and press and you work on your shape to break through the press. It was our hallmark last year and resulted in some fabulous team goals that we all fawned over. Maybe it’s not so clever in this league against better and more organised players, but (a) it’s now instinctive with our longer-serving players, (b) we do go longer a lot more than we did.

Indeed. We have not lost most games as a result of doing it. The problem is elsewhere. As KM points out, no one counts goals which come from a long punt which gets headed back and sets up an attack. No one starts saying teams need to stop going long because it invites counter attacks....

He wasn’t arguing about the entire principle of it. He basically said Morsys first thought was to go backwards and that can always happen at this level if you’re loose with the ball as the opposition know where you’re going with it.

It's also very simplistic to think that going direct is going to get you any more joy over the course of a game. I think we've actually mixed it up about the right amount this year. I doubt there'll have been more than three glaring passing out the back mistakes that have led to goals. I'm not sure today's can be classed as such, it was just a lack of awareness by Morsy and a poor pass.
