After all the “two tier” stuff after the far right grifters were wrong about his identity, this seems a bold move by the police.
Not sure what the precedent is for this, or what the future looks like for people arrested. I assume the fact there is no doubt he was the driver makes the difference ethically, but I fear his family will suffer even more now.

One the things I loved in Colombia is when the cops arrest someone they parade them in front of the cameras.
One suspects the other aspect of the picture is people's apparent disbelief that the driver was 53, as someone closer to 60 than 50, I think he looks a lot younger (cnt) |  |

Talking of conspiracy theories, I had to smile at a couple of
conspiracy topics related to this case.
Firstly let me stress when I say smile I don't mean laugh, at such a serious case. Let me secondly say I've not seen these actually on the Internet it was mentioned last night on the wireless.
1) It appears some people, especially yanks, have highlighted that they videos of the car are fake, because on some videos, the numberplate is white, and on others, it's yellow. They're convinced the 'state' has tried to cover up the driver was an immigrant.
Apparently UK based people have pointed out that's because in the UK the front number plate is white and the rear yellow. But obviously that doesn't help with a good conspiracy theory.
2, Apparently the police had announced the man was from West Derby. Then said he was a local man. Probably Yanks again who searched for Derby on Google maps and found Derby in the midlands, which is approx 100miles away. Aha the conspiracy theorists, jumped on that as a lie from the police, so he wasn't a local man, another cover up to hide the true facts. Again people pointed out West Derby is an area within Liverpool, but obviously, that doesn't help with a good conspiracy theory. | | | |
