Looks like we're very much in the market for top-end prem loans.

Like it.

EDIT: Mubama permanent? Even better.

We have to be careful. Guiu has already been said not to be keen on a loan move to the Championship so we must be careful that we get players with the right attitude e.g. Hutchinson had a great attitude & clearly wanted to work, learn and improve.

And we also need to be careful so we’re not wasting our time once again on dead opportunities nd find ourselves in the very same mess with no apparent leading number 9

Guiu has scored for Barcelona and Chelsea first team. Scored a hattrick in the conference league so can understand why dropping down a level would require some convincing.

If we want him its up to us to do that, sure if we get him here its because he has bought in.

I think he probably, and quite rightly given his pedigree, would be hoping for a loan at a club in one of the top divisions across Europe and probably even one competing in European competition

That said, if he does end up here then we really need to move away from the attitude of x player wasn't keen to come therefore doesn't have the right attitude. It's such a ridiculous view

By all accounts Morsy wasn't keen to drop a division to join us in league 1 but look what happened there. These guys are still professionals and will want to impress wherever they end up. It's not anything to do with attitude, it's about having confidence in your own abilities to be playing at a top level

I am more worried that a line in a newspaper report that "he is not that keen to drop down to the Championship" is being turned into the gospel truth and will become a stick to beat him with if he does end up at Portman Road

While it is unlikely that he got to the end of the season, played in a European final, and his first thought was "tell you what, I quite fancy a go at the Championship" (leaving aside the quality comparison between the UEFA Conference League and the Championship)

But it now looks like he will be at best number three in Chelsea's ranking of strikers behind Delap and Jackson, you would think. They may also need to fit in Nkunku, and they wont have finished stockpiling players yet given their Champions League commitments. And where in the PL are they going to find a club they are prepared to loan him to?

It is also very early in the transfer window so he may not be wanting to close off other options. An initial reaction that "I would rather start for Chelsea" is completely understandable, but if he ends up at Ipswich I would be both amazed and delighted, and I would not read into his journey here that he has a bad attitude

Well, yes, you would think that Town would do their research on this before signing him (or any player) although there is a risk that we want to capitalise on the Delap deal by getting a player in from Chelsea so rush one through. All transfers, including loans, are a risk anyway.

As a rule of thumb if Phil is reporting it there is generally more than a grain of truth in the word he's not keen.

Personally I'd like to see us sign a striker on a permanent basis.

If he signed surely he would be committed. My fear would be spending energy chasing targets we can't get over the line. We don't want to end up with something like Broja on deadline day again. Great to chase the best we can get but a fine balance to be found.

Let's hope we have a host of strikers in our sights and not jusr one or 2. The ambition is clearly there which is a major positive.
