Demolition Man 2 13:57 - Jun 3 with 5243 views | cressi | Could we be heading back to the times Of Paul Cook. Looks like a major rebuild is on the way. Think we have ten to twelve players we will keep. Believe others will go and be replaced .
Demolition Man 2 on 09:32 - Jun 6 with 998 views | Len_Brennan | Goalkeeper - can't see anyone new coming into the match day squad. Defenders - we will probably lose 2+ of Tuanzebe, Burgess, O'Shea & Davis. Godfrey's loan is up & question marks too over Harry Clarke getting back in I guess. So at least 1xRB, 2xCB likely to come in. I haven't seen Boniface in action, but we may feel that he & Townsend will be enough for the Championship, if Leif goes. - this of course is assuming we play a similar formation to last season. Johnson, Ogbene & Burns could be used as wingbacks on the right, if we look to adapt. Midfield - we need 2 new defensive/holding midfielders & a Cajuste type footballing one who can consistently take the ball forward against quality opponents. Forwards - As it stands, we look well covered in numbers, pending fitness tests, but last year showed us that we are lacking in a bit of physicality. Enciso going back to Brighton & Delap's move to Chelsea will further highlight that. Hutchinson, Philogene & Clarke will terrorise Championship defences, but I can see us recruiting in this area with next season's physical challenge in mind. Ogbene might be strong enough on the right side, but Wes looked frightened to take PL defences on at times, such was the number of occasions he was losing possession (he was just starting to be more impactful before the last injury unfortunately). Centre Forward - We need 2 more, to compliment Hirst. Ali to be sold I'm afraid. [Post edited 6 Jun 11:27]

Delap, Lungo, Burgess plus plenty of speculation this is going to be a interesting summer ahead hopefully recruitment will get it right this season and not leave things to the last moment.

A full pre-season under their belt and we will hopefully be ready to fire come season starting. The likes of Greaves, Philogene, Clarke who some have written off will all come good.

I don't think anyone dismissed that Delap, Luongo and Burgess would be off!

saying that delap, luongo, burgess would leave was pretty much everyone's view! saying that only 10-12 players would remain was your view, and this is what was disagreed with

Three players who everyone knew were leaving - I'm not sure that proves your point, mate.

Having a hot take is bad enough, but bringing it back because Burgess has left... really?! Also makes me laugh when negative ninnies include Luongo (note correct spelling) as a player we're losing - a player who made 2 starts (the first two games of the season, when we hadn't completed our transfer dealings) and then 11 sub appearences after that (many of which were 1 or 2 minutes in injury time).
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

Demolition Man 2 on 09:03 - Jun 6 by CityBlue | Lots of negativity.... We all know that loan players are just that. The sensible ones will also know that Delap was only ever going to be a season long venture - even if we had stayed up. It was also noted that Burgess was probably not the most happiest of players sharing game time with Greaves and so the lure of more playing time would entice him (with Rangers mentioned more than once). For me, I do not see the rest being sold off as money is not an issue and to be honest, none of them really excelled last year to the point that a club would be willing to gamble the kind of fee we would be asking (thinking Hutch and Szmod etc) I would love the club to be ambitious in an approach for Cajuste and sell him the starting role with a view to the captaincy but they may be having the same conversation with OShea who seems to be the obvious successor to our Egyptian King. |
I don't really see Cajuste as a captain. Fairly quiet on the pitch and his languid Rolls-Royce purring style of play isn't the physical example you usually see in a captain. Don't see that he directs play at all and don't think he gives off leadership vibes. I'm not fussed if he stays anyway.
