Who else to go? If we manage retain Axel and Johnson 20:40 - Jun 5 with 3385 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | I'd let Harry Clarke explore options. Hate to say it, as I know he is a true Ipswich lad but just a little erratic positionally for me and would be quite far behind the other two mentioned. Any others from the League 1 crew or last Champ season, outside those that are not regularly discussed? Taylor probably a squad player that would be needed at times. There is not room for all the 10s. If we keep Philogene, Omari, Clarke, SS, then Maybe Broadhead goes. Of course there is Ogbene and Burns to come back on the right as well. Burns signed two years I think last September? So I assume would stay and coming back from a nasty injury I am sure some rehab to go. I personally think one of Jack Clarke or Omari is sold but not both. Love all the players that got us to the PL but I do think we need to be a little cautious thinking they could re-create 2023/24. The momentum is gone, a few years older and we are in a different place now. Got to keep moving forwards as a Parachute club! [Post edited 5 Jun 20:42]

Who else to go? If we manage retain Axel and Johnson on 10:38 - Jun 6 by Garv | Bear in mind that RB slot was always the one we left open. With Leif bombing on Clarke/Tuanzebe are always drawn inside so it makes their positioning look poor at times. Tuanzebe is a level above Clarke quite clearly so he can get away with it more, but that's a high bar to judge Clarke by. I think he'll be fine next season, won't play every game but I wouldn't be looking to get rid just yet. Having said that I could see Johnson being useful there so that would leave us with three RBs. All three have iffy injury records, though. |
Fair enough. I think it is a system that leaves the full backs exposed at times but even when Clarke was 1v1 with wingers I never felt comfortable. The amount of goals and chances we conceded down his and Woolfys side with a threaded ball between the 2 of them was a concern. As mentioned as well, he was dropped for Williams and then dropped for Axel so not sure he is one Mckenna sees as part of the rebuild.

Who else to go? If we manage retain Axel and Johnson on 11:28 - Jun 6 by portmanking | Part of me thinks that's why Woolfie is being edged out, due to player trading reasons rather than performance reasons. *If* you did sell all three of those, we'd effectively have £90m+ to work with this season. The rub is whether we can find another Leif or whether Kieran wants to maintain the system around Leif. |
Think we've got to be careful getting too starry-eyed over the pound signs - unless we get a massive offer and/or Davis pushes to go then there's no reason to lose someone who was one of the best players in the division last time out and is integral to how we play.

We may not have any say over losing him. I'm talking in hypothetical terms. If he goes and we lose two players that haven't been integral to this season (Johnson and Woolfenden) we could be looking at a serious pot of money to invest over the summer and Jan windows.

Would agree re Woolfy. I don't think he's put much of a foot wrong on the pitch in the last 3 seasons but seems unlikely he is going to be in the starting CB pairing this season. Would Sheff Utd want to take him now they have been promoted? I saw this morning that Bola has signed for Watford. Leif is a very unique player at this level. I really wouldn't want to lose him. 18 assists last season. No reason he cannot better that next season in a team that will be more dominant. [Post edited 6 Jun 11:44]

Who else to go? If we manage retain Axel and Johnson on 08:28 - Jun 6 by TRUE_BLUE123 | I agree. I was always terrified of the other teams left wingers when he played. He just seems to always be slightly out of position and a bit rash. Decent enough going forward but I would see if we can get a bit of cash for him. As you say whenever I saw him for Blades he was fairly poor. |
There was a night game he played last year at home, think it was Palace. I basically thought he was playing in CM that first half. I’d personally love to see Johnson stay, think he’d be very good in the Championship, hopefully behind a fit Ogbene.

I actually think he’s a good player with a great attitude. He’s played on the right side of our defence and has been exposed at times. Just like every player who has played there, including Tuanzebe. It’s the system as much as any failure on his part. I’d keep him. He will improve too. As for the rest, anyone offered a chance to play (or manage) in the Premier League would be foolish not to consider it. You only get one career and it’s a short one. The obvious candidates may or may not be approached. Since we don’t know any more than we know players’ circumstances, it’s not worth worrying about or reading the trash posted by so called experts on social media. So ‘Beardo Scribbler is a reliable source’. Yeah right. So is Heinz Salad Cream.
