Transfer windows 13:32 - Jun 6 with 810 views | _clive_baker_ | In principle I think they're probably a good thing. They give us a bit of drama with the late scrambles at the end of August, and in some respects protect smaller clubs from having players poached 365 days a year and give the club & player at least a degree of stability. Also removes the risk of any silly and untoward behaviour I guess, clubs moving players to teams for a week so they can play a fixture against a rival etc. Are there any arguments for it being better pre transfer windows when players could move at any time? I remember hearing someone speak ages ago (might've been Barry Fry) and he seemed to think smaller clubs lose their negotiating power towards the end of the window when they're under pressure to do a deal. I'm sure that works both ways though.

That's just sill-y | | | |

Probably would've got more money for him though.

I'm sure they did do this one year, but it was only in England (and only regards to buying) so teams abroad could still buy the english teams players as they had the window stillopen until 31 Aug/1 Sep and prsumably it cased some issues. Having said that, if it was a Europe wide anyway deadline of say 31 July, I think that would be good.

Nearly all European leagues finish and then start same time window opens a week after season finishes shuts a week before it starts simple.

Transfer windows on 15:33 - Jun 6 with 442 views | itfc48 | From a sporting point of view, I'd prefer a short window in the off-season so that clubs start the season knowing their squads and having time for the players to train together. However, that'll never happen as the extended shenanigans are too much fun for the media.

In a World Cup/Euros year that window would be tight. WC26 ends on the 19th July, you would have to allow players a week or so holiday after it. would be hard to get a transfer over the line if your target plays for the top international teams. Not that that would be likely to affect us !!
Transfer windows on 06:57 - Jun 7 with 186 views | PioneerBlue | From a fans and football product perspective I would like the transfer window wrapped up by mid July or beginning of August. I wouldn’t mind a winter window or even two if need be, but it doesn’t need to be a month in Jan. 1 or 2 week period in early Dec or Jan would suffice. Minimise squad chaos with managers having to assemble and rethink their squad through the summer then have it attacked through Aug and not know what they’ve got until Sept. The league is already underway and the football product is reduced by the integration of players having missed the pre season and joining clubs 3-5 game gone.
