Gut feeling… on 07:09 - Jun 8 with 534 views | LegendofthePhoenix | We have already seen from last year that KM is a thinker and taking a long term view over his career. Thomas Frank has done a superb job at Brentford - so much so that it woud be incredibly difficult to do any better next year. And they are a minnow - maybe more highly valued right now, but that can chnage so quickly. Whereas ITFC are a much bigger club in terms of fanbase, community, history, potential. If KM stays and we go up as Champions, whilst Brentford slip backwards, KM would regret it. My money says he stays here unless Spurs or a bigger prem team than Brentford come for him.

Gut feeling… on 16:31 - Jun 7 by Churchman | Established premier league. Premier League structures all in place. According to the interweb (hardly reliable) the club is valued at £400m. We are valued at £250m. Bloated on Premier League steroid money, they are a step up as of now (the big bit is a little tongue in cheek and of course there’s more to a club than paper value. Just chucking a rock in the pond), but the fact is that it’s far easier for him to keep them up than it will be ourselves, should we get back up, simply because of the £££ distortion and the time they’ve spent in that division. If you were him and after say the Man U or Chelsea job down the line, you’d surely consider Brentford as a stepping stone wouldn’t you? Ok screw it up and it’d be bad for him, but if he’s confident and ambitious why not try? I’d also add that if we start the season poorly, I can see our owners getting edgy. Then where would he be? All idle speculation based on utter nonsense in the media because we (esp me) doesn’t know his wants and how clubs and the football manager merry go round works. Nothing in it is my best guess. |
I think he needs another season watching those mid table prem teams so he has a nailed on plan as to what they do and how they do it. We will never know how last season might have gone for him if he went to Brighton, but he has to be very careful on his choices because it is very easy to lose a reputation, much harder to get it back.

I’d go as far to suggest that if you lose reputation, you never get it back so yes, his next move needs to be the right one assuming he is truly ambitious.

And a move to Brentford when they are about to lose at least one of their best players looks risky. The lowest risk option would appear to take us back up then keep us up the following year, having had another year planning for it and with a years experience under our belts. But let’s face it, none of it is risk free and the odds are stacked against managers. But at £5 mill a year, there are worse jobs
