It’s a complicated issue where we need to build relations with other countries through our soft power and by forming alliances and joint accords that provide mutual benefits. See also return of ‘small boats’ migrants. Our foreign policy over much of the last 15 years has degraded our influence and moved us away from those benefits. Alternatively, she was a 15 year old girl who was very effectively groomed and then trafficked and married off to an older man while still a child. That's not to say she has no culpability, we consider 15 year olds to have enough of an understanding of right and wrong to be held criminally accountable for their actions, but it's interestingly how differently her case is viewed in comparison to other cases of grooming and trafficking 15 year old girls. |

You may have stumbled across a reason for why we’ve got less leverage to send these arseholes back (if that’s true - it’s in the Mail so might not be true or could be more nuanced).
Pakistan used to be the largest recipient of our foreign aid (£463 million in 2016*). We’ve cut massively since by an order of magnitude, so they only received £41.54 million in 23/24, although that’s projected to increase this year^.
We’re not exactly banking brownie points.

If you accept she was groomed, wouldn’t it be the right thing to do to give her the chance to turn her life around? After serving any sentences of course. A lot of the grooming gang focus now is on supporting the victims. SB was a victim (at least initially). In law, you’re free once you have served the sentence for any crimes, but she’s being denied that chance for what looks very much like political capital. | |

Her parents are Bangladeshi, so that’s where here potential dual citizenship ship lies (I’m not sure whether she ever claimed dual citizenship before she was 21, the deadline).
