Your point clearly made there, not just a 100 missed but puts the game back into
India’s hands.

It looks ridiculous when it doesn't come off but England shoot themselves in the foot time and again.

There's a reason the opposition just stick four men out, they can't resist and will hole out in good time.

Talented players but ultimately brainless within the context of ebb and flow test cricket.

I really loathe this bazball stuff. The way Smith just gave away his wicket, and Brook trying his best too to do the same.
Ben Foakes is the best keeper we have by a mile, if not the world, but just because he doesn't launch the ball into the stands time and again, he won't get a look in.
Fair enough for the shorter forms of the game, but we don't treat some of our players, test cricket or our opponents very respectfully.
Same with Jack Leach. There is merit in being steady and tying up an end, but they seem locked in with Bashir.
Looks like Sam Cook will be discarded as well. line and length and county championship performances don't count anymore.
It also feels like as soon as Pope makes one poor score, Bethell will be in.
I will be pleased when Stokes and McCollum have moved on, however exciting most people find it, it's not test match cricket for me.

Yes, because the previous regimes have been so good.

Agree it’s brainless at times but it’s brilliant watch.

I understand that. I think I'm just old fashioned. I love text cricket, and to me, we don't play it the right way. I'd like to see England in a couple of draws one day!

After conceding 471 previously what would we have done? Probably crumbled and been bowled out for 200 & it’s game over.

Who wants to watch test match end in a draw after 5 days?

Really not a brainless approach at all by England here. Been quite moderate, but agressive as appropriate.

And we have nearly recovered from the effects of our powderpuff attack as a result.

One innings game now effectively.

There is a school of thought which suggests that Bazball is a solution to the belief/problem that the best batsmen inEngland aren’t technically equipped enough to cope with traditional test cricket. I’m not sure but certainly the last Ashes in Australia the England batsmen looked all at sea.

But for the idiotic shot choices from some of those who should have known better, chances are we could have ended up with a slight lead at the innings break.

That said, with the potential for showers for the rest of the match, perhaps it's good for the match as a whole that we are where we are at this point in proceedings.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Equally you could say that but for the poor catching by India, England could have been a lot further behind at the end of their innings.

India also should not have been losing their last 7 wickets for 41. Undid a lot of the good work the centurions did. Blew a strong position.
