Horner sacked by Red Bull on 10:33 - Jul 9 with 2147 views | Samuelowen88 | It's felt for a while that the only thing keeping him in his job was the results. And they had obviously taken a dip. Wonder if this also means Max is off. I dunno why, and have never met him but Horner has never come across well to me.

Horner sacked by Red Bull on 10:35 - Jul 9 with 2104 views | belgablue | Has clearly done an amazing job over the years etc... but I couldn't stand the guy. Especially all his whining before, during and after races.

Either he's being held responsible for losing Max (if Max has decided to go), or it could be that Max/his dad have stipulated that they want Horner gone before Max agrees to stay. It rather well know that Jos can't stand Horner. [Post edited 9 Jul 10:38]

yeah that's equally possible. Tbf the whole RB set up just doesnt sit well with me. Marko is an absolute helmet, the way he talks about divers is amazing in this day and age. You have to remember some of these guys are still kids.

Helmet Marko! As someone else mentioned above, I've never liked Christian but you can't argue against his results. Red Bull have consistently been fighting at the top end against works teams with massive resources, which is hugely impressive. Still, couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke!
Horner sacked by Red Bull on 11:09 - Jul 9 with 1837 views | Smoresy | My hunch is this was done to try to retain Max, rather than because of anything new & more untenable from the allegations side. Although without the allegations, Max's Dad and others may not have wanted him removed and Newey may not have left. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You only have to look at the performances of Max's teammates to see how comparatively poor the car is and how important Max is to them.

Horner sacked by Red Bull on 11:53 - Jul 9 with 1580 views | Basuco | There has been a power struggle at Red Bull for a while and losing key personal such as Adrian Newey, designer Rob Marshall, sporting director Jonathan Weatley and strategy chief Will Courtenay is leaving at the end of the season to join McLaren has clearly hurt them. Maybe he is seen as the problem, he has been CEO and team principal for 20 years!

No i dont think so, Jos might clash with Horner, but Max is smart enough to know Red Bull are a better team with Horner inside the tent, not outside the tent or worse working for a rival. If Red Bull want to return to the top quickly it needs a character like Horner pushing them forward. People forget he took a team who were considered a joke with a not very serious fizzy drink sponsor into world beaters who beat Ferrari, beat the established teams, brought in all the people that engineered that success & have dominated F1 in a way we've rarely seen or maybe ever see again I think they'll only go backwards from now, youve got the regulation changes, the new power division, still question marks on the 2nd driver, he was spinning alot of plates that unless Mekies is some unknown team boss genius in which case Ferrari will be pondering their choices, i think we could see them imploding. I suspect Max is busy texting Toto right now

Ever since Dieterich died, who was Horners biggest supporter, yeah there's been a power struggle for the F1 team, Horner saw it as his thing, the Austrian side of the company saw it as theirs and in their gift to allow Horner to run it for them, only the Thai support kept him in. Clearly that support has now gone, to what end though I dont know as they'll likely drop further down the grid. They didn't even give him a mutual parting statement, which shows Horner refused to leave by his choice. And fwiw always liked the guy, I like that he annoys people, especially Toto because he has no sense of humour, F1 is too sterile and corporate without people willing to fight their corner, he was the Neil Warnock of F1, you hated him, but you'd always have him on your team because he'd defend you, he's never blamed anyone on his team for mistakes they've made or chucked them under the bus to protect his own skin. Plenty of F1 bosses & drivers thesedays are only too willing to do that.

Having watched "Drive to Survive", Horner came over as a very shrewd & determined guy, but not someone I would fancy having as my boss.

Horner sacked by Red Bull on 08:36 - Jul 10 with 500 views | DBaldy | 18 months too late if you ask me. He was only cleared of those allegations by two "internal" investigations and anyone who saw the leaked messages could see what he'd said and done. But Horner is the ultimate bad loser. Pretty much every F1 fan used to have a soft spot for the Red Bull team, even after Vettel's 4 consecutive championships, but after the rule change in 2014 which led to Mercedes taking over as the dominant team, he couldn't take it and over the last 10 years has turned into an egotistical piece of expletive who never takes responsibility for his actions as he thinks he's above the law. You only need to look at how many senior people have left the team in the last 18 months to get an indication of what he's like to work with. And more recently, as the Red Bull car is clearly struggling, he simply tries to throw as much mud as he can at McLaren & the other top teams, accusing them of cheating just cos he isn't winning every race any more. An odious human being. Good effing riddance.
