Are we still interested but waiting for Club World Cup to finish? Has he turned us down? Have we decided to look elsewhere?

Anyone know or want to speculate?

Why on earth would we be his last choice.

Phil, please never again mention a player having some reluctance. I e never seen a case where so many have taken this to mean he has zero interest to join us/hates us haha!

The lad is a top talent and back himself. Of course he wants to play for Chelsea over us or a Prem club etc. I'd be more worried if that wasn't the case. It doesn't mean he has zero interest in joining us. Just like anyone he has to think if it's best for his development. I actually think he will risk another season of few minutes going to another Prem team.

Let's see. If he comes to us it's because he decided it was best thing for him. Not because we were last choice and he had nothing else. He will have tons of choice.

Where did I say he has zero interest? I said we’ll likely be his last choice of possible options. As we were with Broja.

Not sure if you’re trolling me or not but have a Google of some the clubs which have been linked with him and then come back to me…

Even Cajuste is looking at exhausting all possible options before committing to a championship club again.

We are still interested and waiting, think he’d prefer elsewhere so hopefully we end up his only option!

As someone who used this approach at dating, let me say it could be a long empty wait.

We should probably invest in some glossy magazines of other players.

Hey Joe, I know a different topic but noticed on your pod you seem a bit indifferent about the importance of keeping Ben Johnson. Is it just purely because the only position you can see him with our personnel is RB?

Surely with Axel gone it’s a player we really need to get hold of. He can still get forward a bit from there, even Axel did at times.

Would be a top player in the Championship and lights ahead of Clarke IMO.

Also gives you some versatility if he needs to step into a different role.

Unfortunately, I think Strasbourg were interested (Chelsea's sister club), so you would think he would go there, as several do go from Chelsea to Strasbourg. Hopefully not, though.

They're signing Mike Penders and Kendry Paez on loan from Chelsea, which only leaves them 1 more loan slot, so will be interesting to see who else Chelsea send there. Not sure Guiu would get a game over Emanuel Emegha though, who is apparently on the verge of joining Chelsea in the summer of 2026.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Hmmm maybe but both Chelsea and Strasbourg will be limited on how many loans they can do - my understanding is Kendry Paez and Mike Penders will be going to Strasbourg from Chelsea for next season already. Not sure enough on the rules to know if they can do any more from Chelsea?

I think for how we want that RB role played, or have played it in recent times, he's just a bad fit and Clarke more suited to the role.

Johnson for me is only a wing back and we don't need that at this level, if we could get a decent fee for him and replace him with someone more suited then I wouldn't be too worried.

Johnson has versatility, but as a highly paid player he needs to be a first name on teamsheet type player and profile wise not sure he is

Fair enough, thanks! I get what you’re saying but will slightly disagree on this one.

I do think people overestimate how much PL football BJ has played as well

He had a decent season in 2021/22 and started 16 games for WH, but other than thaty it is next to nothing and often just as a fill in player - he's only started 25 PL games as a RB including his time with us.

I thought he showed some really good qualities over the last third of the season, and like a fair bit of what he does but just don't see what he can do for us this season as his stregths won't be on display

I am assuming his contract had a relegation clause in from a wages standpoint. I am sure he is still on a fair whack. Might be the type of player that attracts a little bit of interest from a promoted club but probably not much outside of that.

I think he is a cut above most Championship players. Struggled at times defensively last year but wasn't an easy team to step into. As the season went on, started to really show his class I thought. Can switch the play well as well, certainly got a ping on him.

Considering we won't be defending as much you'd think he'd have some joy stepping out of the back a bit more for those inside balls as well. He's got a good football IQ I think. The way he set up Szmodics at City for example.

I love Harry as an Ipswich lad, he is certainly strong, has a great ball down the line and a good connection with Burns. I am just not sure Wes will be starting much off the injury with what's in front of him. I think he is a bit erratic defensively, especially positionally. Switches off as well if you look at quite a few goals in our promotion season.

Maybe your right if we can get a fee for Johnson and a starter to better suit the way we will play at Champ level, that might be the way to go. I do think he would be good for us next year though.
