says its going to thunder and lightning and rain in Ipswich from now until 3pm. The metoffice who they sacked off to cut costs says no rain. lightningmaps has no lightning across the whole of england. who's responsible for this fake news i mean weather report?

I use the Norwegian one called YR, which ironically is usually more accurate than either the BBC or Met Office. Just search for it and type in your village or town, most people can get a very localised forecast which may be one reason for the better accuracy.
I also find the weather app on my iPhone pretty decent and better than either the Beeb or MO. [Post edited 20 Jul 1:03]

I use yr.no also but am not always satisfied with it. The level of detail is impressive (I can get different forecasts for the loch and the glen where I live, which looks like an amazing piece of meteorological data but I think they achieve a lot of the dataset by extrapolation from just the same number of weather stations as many other forecasting services.
However, although I get annoyed when they get it wrong I think we have to accept that it is a forecast and not a guarantee, it's up to us to interpret their data and meld it with our local knowledge when we make plans. |  |
