Al-Hamadi for me was a bit of a punt and IMO worked in that he contributed to us getting over the line to the prem. |  |

Ben Godfrey maybe? Only a loan of course, but he did take up a place in the squad. Hadn't been doing much at Atalanta, so it looked a bit of a long-shot that he'd do the business. |  | | |

Kalvin Phillips was a high-profile, expensive punt. It was a gamble which didn't work. Dont think there was any scientific approach going into his signing. | | | |

As others have said - Godfrey, Phillips, AAH and Tuanzebe all punts of sorts. Brandon Williams another that was a big one and didn’t work out. Before that, arguably Luongo was one too given he’d barely played for a year and Gassan Ahadme seemingly signed based off a handful of performances including one against us
I still don’t understand why some to think all of our signings fit some kind of fixed profile when the reality is that we sign a variety of players for a variety of reasons, have done for some time and will no doubt continue to do so |  |
