Seemingly we need a striker and two more CM’s , one ideally being an 8 Throw into the equation a replacement if needed for the imminent exit of OH CM (8) - CM - Striker - Replacement for OH -

Signings on 17:17 - Jul 20 with 1089 views | _clive_baker_ | Hackney & Brownhill would be an incredible midfield duo at this level, with Matusiwa & Taylor in the mix as well. I’d keep Humphreys for his versatility. I’d like us to back Johnson at RB, with Clarke as well so I wouldn’t do too much there. Elsewhere defensively we’re sorted. Forward wise assuming Omari leaves is there a mk2, young loanee we could bring in who wouldn’t necessarily expect to start every game. Ideally who can operate on the right or as a #9 in the Delap mould. That’s where I’d look, and use it as an opportunity to give J.Clarke and Philogene the chance they’ve been waiting for. That might kill 2 birds. Would just leave a big #9 addition. Hirst is quality, but needs help and we really need someone as good if not better than him. Who that is I’m not sure, Latte-Lath would be great but not sure how realistic it is. So Hackney, Brownhill, a big money #9 and a loanee who can play through the middle and also on the right. Not much to ask innit.

Philogene is quick isn't he. I thought he was probably quicker than Omari. I might be wrong.

Signings on 17:05 - Jul 20 by Horsham | If we’re looking at signing a better attacking midfielder/forward than Clarke, Philogene, or Szmodics then it’s going to be some signing to replace Omari. I’ve feeling Philogene might be effective in that right 10 role to be honest. |
Not necessarily a better player. But a better fit for the role Omari plays in. left footed, can play wide, can play central. Clarke and Jaden can't do that. You would often see Omari take the ball deep in our own half and then take us up the pitch, the game away at spurs was a perfect example he did it so many times. We really do not have a player like him, im almost certain the club will look to recruit someone with a similar skillset. [Post edited 20 Jul 19:12]

He is not slow but doesn't have the speed that Omari has with the ball at his feet.

Hmmm not convinced Philogene can’t perform that role and he’s pretty good with both feet. Somewhere or other I’d have thought there needs to be a bit of repurposing/rejigging around Szmodics, Philogene, Clarke and Broadhead as they all pretty much play in that left channel most of the time in our system. Maybe the system changes…but it’s worked pretty well over the last 3 years so I’m guessing not. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you’re right and we go for the closest copy we can get for Omari but I think when we talk Omari replacements it’s 10 rather than a winger we need.

But 2x CM, and 1x ST is an absolute necessity. Sommer different names beyond the obvious ones: CM - K.Goudmijn, G.Hamer ST - D.Burgzorg [Post edited 20 Jul 20:39]

They need to be comfortable doing both I think. I do think we have an issue in terms of a lot of Players occupying the same space. Clarke can play on the right but he is far less comfortable there. As you say it’s a lot of bodies who all prefer to be on the other side. We look short of a guy who is predominantly Right sided and has a similar skill set to OH. Ogbene and Burns playing a different role. Some names I’ve seen thrown about. Doak, Asprilla, Manhoef, Rak Sakyi (less keen on him) those are the sort of players I think McKenna will be wanting to replace Omari. Not sure how attainable they are though.

Perhaps AAH , Baggott, Slicker and Humphreys at least with something lined up

Signings on 07:51 - Jul 21 with 194 views | PioneerBlue | I would say the priority is still CM (8) - CM - That’s makes the midfield group 5 Striker - I’m not against AAH staying with the squad to take up some minutes but that time would be limited because we need able back up or competition for Hirst. Replacement for OH I’m not certain about this, we have 7 playing 3 positions excluding Burns and OH. It’s not that we don’t need the numbers but it’s an opportunity to really consider what’s need in those positions based on what we face now and in future, plus you can’t replace OH he’s a one off. Squad is at 26 (excluding Morsy and OH). We have up to 3 keepers and probably Baggott and or AAH to shift to make the space as needed.
