Wouldn't blame Umbro. This year's kits are all Castore shirts just with an Umbro logo on hence the new sizing and long sleeve option.
I have a number of England cricket shirts and the material and fit exactly the same as the new shirts. |
Yeah. It's a weird one because I'm pretty certain Castore bought out Umbro so they could use their superior manufacturing/factory contacts etc (they'd had problems with quality previously), so to see them using their own manufacturing process but badging it as Umbro is a weird move.
But regardless, the sponsor size isn't down to the manufacturer. It'll be added long after the shirts are created and wouldn't be part of their design process. | | | |

but Castore wont have suddenly dumped all their contracts just to use Umbros manufacturing, theyll using the capacity Umbro gives them to reorganise things so their premium client deals get the best from whats available, which almost certainly means Castore get the best ie the Umbro factory capacity, and then whats left of Umbro on their sub licensed deal to Castore is basically made by Castore just with an Umbro logo, because thats the contract we and other clubs signed.
you see it all the time in the Olympics, Team GB are sponsored by Adidas in the Olympics, all the kit has an Adidas logo, yet very little of the kit the athletes are wearing has been anywhere near an Adidas factory, its actually made by the companies who make their kit outside the Olympics, and they just slap an Adidas logo on for them. | | | |
