The thing which doesn't add up to me is why he's claiming the files don't exist.
He's already proven he's untouchable, and his supporter base will gladly make some alternative facts narrative on his behalf.
But they won't accept the change in the conspiracy theory that he stoked - they want to see names in those files (and won't care about hypocrisy when Daddy Trump is on there too).
